Here is the the latest beta version of PowerTools Lite:

http://www.macecraft.com/downloads/betas/PTLite_setup_beta3.exe

(If the link doesn't work it means the testing for this version has already ended)

Summary: PowerTools Lite is a very easy to use program for fixing registry errors and cleaning your computer, and it will be released as Freeware.

Do not install this beta version over any existing version but to a new directory. Also, do not uninstall any previous versions of jv16 PowerTools before the installation of this version - this version is a beta version. Beta version means the new product version is not yet finished and is only released for testing purposes in order to find the last remaining problems.

Do not start to translate this version to your language yet, there will be more changes to the language interface. The translations include the debug translation X_English which can be used to test and report if parts of the GUI cannot be translated.

Release notes:

* All the bugs reported on Beta2 should be fixed.

* The program can now be fully used, unlike the first beta this version is no longer read-only. However, the Fix button in this beta version only deletes the found data, it does not attempt to fix anything. Please use caution when using the program!

Known issues:

* Automatic removal and fixing features of the Start scan > Advanced options are not implemented yet

As always, all beta testers who give us valuable feedback such as good quality bug reports or other feedback will be given a free personal license for jv16 PowerTools 2009 when then final product version is released. To be clear, simply downloading the beta version and saying "it works fine" or "it doesn't work" doesn't entitle for a free license.

The final version should be ready in the next 20 days. The RC1 will probably be released next, with all the features implemented.

Vista SP2 RTM x64 Business, PTLite Beta3

"Export as .reg file" right click option still does not work. Again, if Regedit is first selected, opened, closed, then the option works.

I'm having a problem that I think is related to the fact that I have my Windows box set up to use Large Fonts: The bottom of some lines is cut off, making it hard to read the text.

One other thing that I just noticed: there is no "About" information in the Help options. I've got 2 jv16 windows open right now and I don't see any obvious way to find out which is beta 1 and which is beta 3.

PTLite v.1.9.0.565 (beta3) run on Vista BE (not SP1)

Bugs: * Temp Files category shows nothing (count is zero). Every time.

The issue still exists on my computers.

The attachment shows, for four different PCs, the "Temp dirs" contents with dates according to PT2009 File Cleaner.

Temp dirs.zip

PT Lite and PT 2009 both miss a lot of invalid registry keys, particularly in the MUICache area. I've attached a list of keys that PT Lite and PT 2009 miss (~114 keys)

Temp files not being shown that's deleted. Is it possible to see those?

Here's one way: in the Backup Tool ("Undo"), right click on the backup that was made and select "Custom restore/Edit backup."

Still no problem on my system.

Trying PT Lite Beta 3 on Windows 7 x64 and it's finding a lot of keys with incorrect permissions or owner.

This is a clean install of Windows 7 RC and I feel pretty certain these keys should not be shown as errors.

I've attached a text file listing these.

I now found some things to tweak, the issue should now be fixed. Thank you for reminding me about this issue! The next version (RC1) should be out in a day or two.
