Issues after registry cleaning: Remote Desktop and IE8 Find

Systems: Windows 2003 SP1, SP2; Windows XP Pro SP2, SP3. On some of these systems I don't have the backups of registry cleaner, so I could not trace what keys was missing and/or causing problems.

I had 2 issues after using Macecraft's registry cleaning and compacting features.

The first one is that the 'Find on this page' on IE8 does not work as expected. I've found the solution, many more people have this problem and I've confirmed with some of them that all of us used some registry cleaner before:

The second one is that after establishing a Remote Desktop session (entering credentials) the session is locked and I have to CTRL-ALT-Del again to logon. Could not find any solution to this one.

Any help would be very appreciated.

What version of PowerTools did you use and what exactly did you do? (as in what tools did you use and with what settings)

Version 1.7.0.416 of RegSupreme Pro, and The PowerTools 2008 and 2007.

I had the same "Find on this page" problem with IE8 on Windows XP Home (SP2). I applied the .bat file fix given in the Google Groups discussion linked to in the david.lynch post, and that fixed the problem.

I then ran the Registry Cleaner in jv16 PowerTools 2009 1.9.0.550, and it listed 15 registry errors associated with C:\WINDOWS\system32\oleacc.dll, one of the items in the .bat file fix. Fixing (deleting) those registry errors caused the "Find on this page" problem to return; restoring them with the jv16 Backup Tool caused the problem to go away. It appears that one or more of the registry "errors" related to oleacc.dll is needed by IE8.

This problem is now fixed, thank you for reporting! The fix is included to the next released version due out later in this month. You can get the same effect by adding "oleacc.dll" to the Ignore Words feature of the Registry Cleaner.
