Upgrade installation

I am upgrading from jv16 PowerTools 2008 to jv16 PowerTools 2009. In the email I received notifying me that my purchase was approved, there were no instructions on how to install the upgrade, nor was I able to find this information anywhere on your forum or on your help pages. I started to install the upgrade, then canceled it, when I noticed that the installation wants to create it's own directory.

Do I uninstall my old jv16 PowerTools 2008 first, then install jv16 PowerTools 2009? Or will the new installation removed the old installation?

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Uninstall PT 2008 first. Remove any leftover folders that are named jv16 PowerTools 2008. Then install PT 2009 and input your new license in the new jv16 PowerTools 2009 folder. You will need to set any settings that you want to change from default because nothing is carried over from PT 2008.

After your installation of the current version of PT 2009, you can install any new builds right over the top of the existing PT 2009.

I too upgraded to Power Tools 2009. Seeing no instructions for the installation, I installed version 2009 without uninstalling version 2008. jv16 power tools 2009 appears to be working OK. Can I uninstall version 2008 now without damage to version 2009?

Yes, you should be able to remove PT 2008 via Control Panel>Add and Remove Programs (Vista- Programs and Features) without doing any harm to PT 2009. Keep in mind that you can re-install PT 2009 right over the top of itself if something does get removed when uninstalling PT 2008.

I am assuming that when you installed PT 2009, it created its own jv16 PowerTools 2009 folder under C:\Program Files (the default installer location for PT 2009).
