Hello!

There is something very strange with this release!

Hello!

Please make the old version available for download so we can use the program!

This link should get the 531 download: http://www.macecraft.com/downloads/jv16pt_setup_hb_1.9.0.531.exe

Hello!

Thank you for the link, now everything works as normal. The testing of updates are poor. The updates must be tested prior to release. I have said it before and now i say it again. This is harming the confidence of the users of the product!

Kind regards

Definite issue with reg cleaner as already mentioned.

There clearly is no testing prior to release, as this is an easily recognisable bug.

Not the first time that a release has been rushed out.

Hello!

Is the developers of this product amateurs. Maybe the testing is only done on windows 98???????

Kind regards

I rolled back to 531 as 539 simply DOES NOT WORK.

Problem confirmed, I'll release a fixed version ASAP. The problem is not generic, meaning it does not occur every time on every system, therefore commenting about the lack of testing prior the release does not apply very well.

It's working for me from the outset.

There are, however, several issues with the structured list which I am in the process of describing in a separate topic.

I have now released an updated version, build 540 which should fix the problem. I say 'should', because as I said, this is a non-generic problem which only occurs in some systems on some data, therefore I cannot be 100% positive whether the problem is fixed yet. Please let me know how.

PS. I noticed some problems with the new Registry Cleaner's result list relating to the refreshing the selection counts after a deletion/fixing. So this is a known problem, I do not wish to go back to the previous version of the list because of these cosmetic problems as the new list is otherwise much better. If this updated version fixes the problems reported by Tullik, that is.

Registry cleaner now seems to work properly and fix works when I click on it, on my system-Vista 32 bit ultimate

You'll have to better than "should" before I will try it. Without some details on what and why it is failing I am unwilling to test further for a paid-for product.

I bought and paid for a copy of RegSupreme back at the end of February 2007, then decided I would like jv16PowerTools, so bought that at the end of March 2008. I just upgraded jv16PT2008 to jv16PT2009 a couple of weeks ago for the $7 it cost to do so. Now I see that it may have been free had I waited.

In such case you should uninstall every single commercial software you are using, as well as throw away your cell phone and all other electronics, and your car as well. Pretty much all things that contain electronics. All these products contain bugs and they only "should" work, they do not work with 100% efficency or probability. If you do not wish to test a paid-for product, you can't use any paid-for products because they all will contain bugs and they will all require testing, this is how it is now and this is how it will be.

The only thing we can do about this is to focus the development in a way the bugs occur only in the non-critical areas of the product.

And as usual, this is not a serious bug, the Fix button of the Registry Cleaner simply didn't do anything. It was caused by the new list control used and the bug wasn't detected in our pre-release testing because the bug doesn't always occur.

If you are not happy about the upgrade, just send me a PM and I can issue you a refund.

I have been generally quite pleased with these products. And with 30+ years in professional computing I am quite well aware that perfection is impossible. I maintain a system of regular backups and keep prior versions of software for the ability to rollback with ease.

Still, the very nature of registry cleaners makes use of this class of software more risky than other types of software. The statement that v540 should address the problems of V539 does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling. I expect more. Had V539 been released as a public beta, I would have no issues; however, as a released version that had errors of this sort, that apparently are not yet completely identified and known, does concern me greatly.

And yes, taking an upgrade charge and then finding out it it being offered for free does smart a little. It was apparently possible to send out emails about the upgrade, but not about the free upgrade? Although, upon further research, I find that the email address for the first of the three products purchased, RegSupreme, is an old email address that is no longer around, so it would not have been possible to be notified at that email address anyway. I thought I had notified MaceCraft of the email address changes, however.

I agree, that's why I think it's important that all the bugs that do occur, are cosmetic and non-critical bugs. As this bug is.

As I said, since the bug doesn't occur every time, it's impossible for me to say whether the bug is now fixed or not. In our test environments I was able to reproduce the problem with the original version after some testing, with the new version I no longer can't. But I can't be 100% sure, therefore I can only say it should be fixed.

Emails about the free update are now being sent, also all versions of RegSupreme and RegSupreme Pro now report the possibility to update for free when the Help > Check for updates feature is used.
