Hello.. I use 1.9.0.531 and I've recently replaced my Take Command 9 with v10, and because of this I did a search&replace on

the registry.. i.e search for TCMD9 replace with TCMD10.

The items found and what they would be replaced with looks kind of strange though.

When I manually check the items with Regedit (by rightclicking the item and selecting regedit) those does indeed contain the searched value, but PT doesn't display the values before and after as it should.

It doesn't do any replacements either.. whether the items to be replaced is selected or not.

Upon clicking "Replace" it asks if I want to backup the items, and after clicking No the dialog

completly vanishes.

It seems it is a bug.

I did a test searching for jv16PT.exe, to be replaced by jv16PT.exe. (*) look below the screenshots for additional explanation.

It seems it does it correctly if the match is in the "Entry name."

However, if the match is in the "Data" (aka the "Value"), it does it incorrectly. It shows the "Entry name" in the before and after cells, and will not change anything for that match.

(*) Before doing the above test, I did a search for jv16PT.exe and actually did the replace to jv16PX.exe. The results window showed the same items as above.

Then I did a search for jv16PX.exe to change it back to jv16PT.exe. That results window did not show the c, c, a, or b lines.

Therefore, no change had occurred in those "Data" items.

at least per my observation so far.

I consider it to be a bug.

I'll run the same test with some of the older products in my signature to see if it has been around for a while ...

Version 1.4x has no registry find & replace tool.

PT2005 does not have the bug.

PT2006 does not have the bug.

PT2007 does not have the bug.

PT2008 does not have the bug.

It should be easy to fix in v1.9.0.xxx. Probably the wrong data element was referenced while recoding to incorporate the new GUI … essentially, just a "typo" type error.

The final window's before, after, and found from were essentially all the same. Here's what it looked like with PT2008:

This bug is now fixed, thank you for reporting! The fix will be included to the next released version of the product.
