(If the link doesn't work it means the testing for this version has already ended)

Warning:

Do not install this beta version over any existing version but to a new directory. Also, do not uninstall any previous versions of jv16 PowerTools before the installation of this version - this version is a beta version. Beta version means the new product version is not yet finished and is only released for testing purposes in order to find the last remaining problems.

Main changes since Beta 4:

* Improved compatibility with 64 bit Windows (mainly Vista)

* Fixed a left-over piece of debug code from the Registry Cleaner Engine that caused some false positives (nothing very serious, though)

* Fixed more minor issues from the translation interface (English.lng)

* Greatly improved Software Manager's ability to find registry keys relating to a specific software (e.g. upon uninstalling it via Software Manager)

* Made major improvements to all features of the Software Manager and renamed the tool to Software Uninstaller

* Improved the System Optimizer so it will be able to undo tweaks even the tool's backups have been removed (e.g. upon uninstalling the software and updating to a new version)

* Improved the Software Manager's GUI in a way it now always shows the Explore option in the Right-Click menu, before it was not shown for items without a valid installation path

* Improved the way many tools (e.g. Registry Cleaner, Software Manager etc) show their file, directory and registry references - now non-working references are now marked with a red font, this makes working with the tools a lot easier and faster

* Converted the last remaining tabbed controls to use the new image tab control

* Improved the GUI of all the main tools

* Improved the Registry Cleaner and Registry Finder so they no longer displays incorrect Last Modified dates but instead "N/A" if no valid Last Modified date is found

* Fixed a bug that caused the program sometimes to crash when closed

* Greatly improved the Registry Information tool

* Added the new and improved Scan Report

* Added support for changing the product's language on-the-fly.

* Added a small improvement to the Registry Cleaner: it will now tell you if you used it with Search Words and because of this no errors were found. This is handy if the Search Words were left from previous run and you didn't remember they are still active.

* Fixed the support for chaning the font of the program, this is especially useful for international users who wish to use fonts supporting their special characters

* Fixed a bug from the Registry Manager that could crash the application if the Section menu is used

* Fixed a bug that caused the Registry Cleaner's Fix feature to use hard disk drives ignored with the FileCache.dat

* Fixed a bug from the algorithm that defines the default column width of different tools

* Added support for changing the product's default font with the translation file

* Fixed a bug that caused the tool tips of the main window not to support word wrap with other languages than the default

Release notes:

* Please feel free to start to translate this version to your language, there shouldn't be any more changes to the language interface. Please send your translation files to us via http://www.macecraft.com/helpdesk/createticket/

* The Mouse Gestures still do not work perfectly, if they are not working before RC2 the feature will be removed.

* This release contains a debug translation called X_English which allows beta testers to verify that all parts of the GUI can be translated.

As always, all beta testers who give us valuable feedback such as good quality bug reports or other feedback will be given a free personal license for the product when then final product version is released. To be clear, simply downloading the beta version and saying "it works fine" or "it doesn't work" doesn't entitle for a free license.

On installation, I get that the trial period has expired and then I run into the anti-crack protection. Cannot seem to get through that. How do I get a new trial period?

I had 15 days left. I could see this if I run out of days. What a bug. lol Time for a quick fix.

Same problem here, time limit expired. "Buy it" but it won't let me do that either. :

Ditto, "time expired". Tried reinstalling everything from 2008 thru the betas onwards but the problem remains. Can't shift it beyond 'trial expired'

When I clicked on the "Buy..." icon, I got a cascading torrent (Hundreds) of "Runtime Error 216 at 0042869E" followed by many "FastMM has detected a GetMem call after FastMM was uninstalled." Can still get to buy page.

XP Media Edition, SP3, all updates/Drivers current.

Update -1/20/08. When I try upgrade on "Buy..." and put in my email address get back "In order to purchase an upgrade license you must be an existing customer and enter the email address you used with your original order." Am licensed for 2005-2007, same Email address.

I too got the trial period expired and I new i had at least 15 days left on the trial. After the pop ups about the trial ending it just sits on the taskbar and does nothing, i have to end it through task manager. The taskbar button is there and task manager shows the program is running but it isn't accessible

Same problem here ,

trial period has expired .

Had to uninstall the RC1 , waiting on a fix .

hmmmm, i had no trouble downloading/installing rc1. and i get a message the trial period is 30 days.

however (isn't there always one of those), after ticking most of the options in system tools|system optimizer|performance tweaks, when i start pt2009rc1, i don't get the message box at the bottom telling me the program is ready to run. not sure if that's important, but it was a little reassuring when i got it.

i haven't unticked the boxes in system tools yet to see exactly what's causing the anomaly (if that's what it is), but i can if that's important to anyone. (8

longtime subscriber, 2009 lookin' good. thanks.

sidenote: i just tried changing my password, but it failed because it's asking me to mix cases. who do i complain to? seems like overkill for a forum password.

Maybe because you didn't install the previous betaversions?

This is by design in PT2009. The three successful test messages now show only once per day.

Oh my, sounds like there's something wrong with the trial system. I'll re-release RC1 in a few hours with the fix included (hopefully!)

Updated and hopefully fixed RC1b released (version number: 1.9.0.501):

Please let me know if the trial problem has been fixed, it has, I'll publish the fixed version in the mailing lists as well.

RC1b installed and is working on Vista SP1 64-bit. :)

On Vista SP1 64-bit, the Registry Compactor is not picking up all areas to compact. I'm wondering if it is improperly looking at C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config instead of C:\Windows\System32\config where all the registry info is located.

Something has happen to the icon for jv16 PT 2009 in the Quick Launch bar. This is a new issue.
