1.8.0.472 (but this has been happening for at least the last several versions), WinXP SP2: About 25% of the time (1 scan in 4), the Scan Report does not show after Registry Cleaner finishes. It doesn't matter what engine setting or any other settings I use - it just occurs relatively regularly. Is anyone else experiencing this? It's not hurting anything, but it's something that should be fixed (assuming it's not happening only on my machine).

Thanks.

I always get the Scan Report unless I intentionally select the last option in the Advanced options tab.

Do you always run Registry Cleaner the same way, or do you use different "named preferences" sometimes? If you do it with different preferences, examine the Advanced options tab in each one.

I always run Registry Cleaner the same way - never change the settings. I simply open Registry Cleaner and hit the start button, so I'm pretty sure it's not anything I'm doing or not doing. A wierd inconsistency.

Since this issue is so intermittent, jv16 would have a better chance of finding a solution if he had debug mode logs of an occurrence ...

I'll give that a try. Thank you, sir.

The same thing is happening to me randomly, with this new version as well as with previous versions. No scan report appears. I click on "Select All", then "Fix", and nothing happens. I reboot the computer, start the registry cleaner, and the same thing happens. I haven't been able to get the new version to work correctly yet. :

Always nice to know I'm not alone when it comes to this kind of stuff. Confirms, at least partially, that I'm not losing my mind!

Attached is a debug log that should show the error causing my Registry Cleaner Scan Report not to display.

It appears that now a Registry Cleaner Scan Report is never generated. Have been experimenting this AM - Registry Cleaner consistently fails to produce a scan report. I've done nothing to my system, nor have I changed any settings in Registry Cleaner. Strange.

One thing that can cause this is when the setting below is set to False.

A setting in C:\Program Files\jv16 PowerTools 2008\Settings\RegCleaner.dat:

  • Show=True

An inadvertent click on the Scan Report's "Don't show…" box can cause it to change to False.

For whatever reason, my installation has now stopped providing Registry Cleaner Scan Reports entirely. I have not re-installed the program or changed any settings because I want to see if Jouni sees anything in the debug log I provided.

I uninstalled and reinstalled PT2008 - still no Scan Report. PT2007 does not provide a report, either. Settings files in both programs have reports turned on. Apparently, it's something specific to my machine. If I find out what it is, I'll let everyone know.

Hello All, I have the same problem with my desktop vistabased sp1, and with my laptop XP sp3.

After a first registry cleanup the report does not show. When I select all errors and fix them, not all the errors are fixed.

The second time I run the registry cleaner the report does show after the scan and fixes all errors correct.

Hope this helped

Does it resolve the issue if you uncheck "Also show extended information (for advanced users)" under Settings>Messaging?

Not for me - that option is already unchecked and I've never implemented it.

Does not help for me either.

It appears to be allways on the first regclean, when I do a computer reboot again the first time it does not show.

And when the report does not show, regcleaner does a bad job fixing or removing the errors.

I use the Avast virusscanner on both machines, its the only thing they have in common.

One vista and one XP.

Is the virusscanner the culprit? What happens if you disable that scanner?

I'm using AVG 7.5 Free Edition. I don't get a scan report either with or without AVG running. Good thought, though.
