May I please put in an early plea regarding the GUI of the 2009 version of the program - that it allow users the option of following the default Windows GUI, i.e., of sidestepping any skins or program-specific graphics. If some users happen to like those visual features, by all means make them available. But please also cater for the preference of those who think that a well-functioning set of tools like jv16 does perfectly well without them. Many thanks.

I hear you, I see what I can do.

That's very helpful - many thanks.

@Brian49

I have linked your first Post in the appropriate Topic Ideas for PT 2009, for a greater visibility of the Developer and all Users. :

Apologies - I failed to find that section of the forum, perhaps because it doesn't appear on the board index.

Thanks - what I meant was that when I go to the main forum index page, there isn't a section called `Development' or anything similar.

By the way, how come I'm still a `new user' when I joined the forum in March 2006?

I see it now, thanks. But not all thoughts about development are `feature requests'.

So it appears I could be a forum member for 10 years and still be a `new user' if I don't happen to put up 50 posts. Not altogether sensible, is it? Not very important either, of course.

Many forums on the Web award `seniority' on the basis of number of posts. It's a silly idea.

Yep, but what can you do, this how the forum software (phpBB) is made.

By the way, about the subject of this thread I can say that we are working hard to make all the Windows of PowerTools 2009 to contain the standard Windows caption bar and top right corner buttons, so unlike in PT 2008. I can't promise this yet, but it's looking very certain.

That's encouraging news, thanks very much. In my view, the only programs that `need' special graphics are audio players, because of the number of control buttons and sliders they tend to have, but even then I would be happier without them (as in Media Player Classic). It's a matter of taste, of course.

Yes, it's a matter of taste. I personally would like to make all our products to use only the standard Windows controls and very basic user interface that would contain just the features and nothing fancy. But I'm afraid most of the users tend to disagree, as long as we had simple user interfaces in e.g. PowerTools, all the reviews of the product tend to say that the product could use a better GUI. That's why the product at the moment looks as it does.
