In the file (unnecessary) search I would like to add .bak-old. type files can this be done and how?

In the file search I am getting a lot of files even in the safe search mode. I take it that you have to go over these files very carefully?

How do I save them in case they have to be restored?

Thanks for your time

Answer 1. Here are two ways.

  • 1. You can just add it to the series of wildcard strings present by default. The changes are "remembered" in accordance with Settings-->Preference saving.

    2. You can use notepad to change the default settings in the FileCleaner.dat file in the Settings subfolder where you installed PowerTools.

Answer 2. Yes indeed. The "Warning" is meant to be taken seriously.

Answer 3. The files are saved (or not) according to the Backups tab options you choose in Settings. You can restore files thus backed up using the Backups tool.
