When I finish cleaning the registry using the "Registry Cleaner" tool, I then compact the registry.
I normally "select all" and tell it to compact.
It starts out showing me the "size before" and "size after". Of course "size after" has "unknown" prior to completion of the task.
However, after completion of the task, the "size after" still has many "unknown" results with normally only 2-3 changes in size showing.
Now thinking logically here, shouldn't the results show something other than "unknown". I think it should at least have the same size as is shown in "size before" if there was nothing compacted in a particular section of the registry.
As it appears now, one could get the feeling that the compactor is not doing it's job completely.
Please help me understand these results as they are not explained in the handbook to any great extent.
