Can not delete all items found

Hi All,

I use this program since 2005 and I like it. Now I installed the last version 449 under vista premium. I noticed that after a registry scan and after selecting all item and remove, not all items found are removed. Some guys in this forum say that 2008 edition is full of bugs, I do not think so, there are some bugs but this is normal. I use computers since 80's and I never found a program with no bugs, windows itself is a buggy OS!!! Can someone in this forum report a non buggy program? I think that the benefits of this program to keep your PC in good health is excellent, so I keep these little bugs!!!

Could you give me more information about the problem? When you try to delete all items, what happens? Does it show an error message for example?

There is no error message, simply some items remain there. Last time all the high rate items remained there. I used the fix option instead of the delete option and all items were deleted. This is a regulal problem as it always happens after a registry scan. I will post more details next time I run registry cleaner.

A similar problem exists with the File Finder and File Cleaner results lists. Some selected files remain on the list and are not deleted. It does not happen every time, only sometimes.

Usually, the problem is not serious, just a nuisance. One can click the Delete button again, or rescan.

Using jv162008 version .449

After the completion of a registry scan, in a number of cases, the "Scan Result Window" does NOT pop-up.

In the scan window are reported the 3 main errors groups:

--Registry errors (x errors)

--Leftover date (x keys, y entries)

--Unneeded data (x keys, y entries)

And one or more of these error groups shows a number of key's/entrie's to be fixed.

Doing a "select all" will highlights all 3 major error groups mentioned above but doing a "fix" errors does NOT delete all reported errors!

The errors that remain, in most cases these errors are in the "Unneeded Data" group, can ONLY be fixed "by hand" as follows:

For the remaining errors:

1. open all pull down winows up till the individual key/entry error level,

2. select one individual error and press the "fix botton",

3. repeat this process till all the remaining scan errors are fixed.

By the way in my case this error situation described above also occurs in jv16tool 2007

I think that it may exist a confusion between "Delete" and "Fix" (in the french translation: "Supprimer" et "Réparer") : with "Delete", you only delete the entry from the list; with "Fix" you really delete the entry from the register. Could it be usefull to find two better words ? MR:-)

I think it works like this:

1. "Delete" removes items from the registry.

2. "Fix" usually removes items from the registry.

3. "Fix" changes an item in the registry in the following case:
- a. The item contains a disk file path which does not exist.
  
  b. The FileCache.dat contains a comparable file path on a different disk.

I haven't noticed that "Fix" does any other fix action, but perhaps it may.

BTW, you delete items from the raw list (without taking any action) by selecting the items, then doing right click any line-->Delete from list.

Please see the below results after running the Registry Cleaner and telling it to "Fix" found entries.

: Failed to remove "HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1482476501-1450960922-725345543-1004\Software\Microsoft\DirectInput\MostRecentApplication : Name"! Windows core returned the following error: "Invalid key"

: All done! 720 B of data was removed (4 registry entries and 0 keys).

My question would be after reading these results of the "Fix", "Why would Windows Core return an "Invalid Key" error when it was found by JV16 PT 2008 and I selected it for a "Fix".

I've noticed this on other reg entries found by JV16 PT 2008, only to have the "Delete" or "Fix" results come back with errors of similar wording.

But, as I've said, this is what beta testing is all about huh.

It's probable that there is a PT2008 v 1.8.0.449 bug in the construction of the Windows API call for action on those items ...

I guess the French translation is correct:

Fix = Réparation

Delete = Effacer

Custom Fix = Rép. personnalisée

When you click "Effacer" (Delete) all the selected items will be removed from the registry.

When you click "Réparation" (Fix), registry cleaner wil try to fix (réparer) the selected items and if he fails to fix them, he removes them from the registry.

It's only after right-clicking an entry, you have the possibility to choose the option "Supprimer de la liste" (Delete from the list).

Thank you Redseujac. Let me explain my problem: If I left-clic on "Effacer", and then if I make a new "Register cleaning", I find again all the keys I had decided to delete ! These keys seem to be deleted only from the list, not from the registry. But if I choose "Reparer", when I do a new "Registry cleaning", I see that these keys have disappeared from the registry. MR:-)

Have you selected al the found entries before clicking the button "Delete" (=Effacer)?

You should select the entries by going to "Sélectionner" > "Tout" and then you click the button "Effacer".

All the selected entries should be removed then...

Do not forget to let the tool make a backup!!!

If you do not want to select all the entries, you should select only those you want to delete...

Well, I just can't reproduce this behaviour.

I did twice a "Delete" procedure and both times the selected keys were not anymore listed at the new run.

May be the keys listed again are such keys recreated automatically by Windows or a software. To avaid this you have to activate under "Advanced options" the option "Don't show items that would be automatically re-created".

I still get .455 only removing about 1/3 of the entries selected, when deleting.

This seems to occur if I use the Raw display format, which I have always been more comfortable with.

That issue seems to be fixed with the new version 1.8.0.455.

Just download and install it...
