2008 jv16 Power Tools - Not ready for prime time

Long time jv16 Power Tools user and evangelist for the quality and capability of this software. However, the 2008 upgrade has reigned in my enthusiasm and given pause to using this, once, most important tool. Most of the issues are with the obvious: the new UI. My hope is that this version (1.8.0.446) will receive the necessary code changes quickly.

Definitely not ready for Prime Time! I waited in anticipation for 2008 but what I've experienced so far leads me to believe that the developer rushed this to market way before all the bugs have been worked out. 2008 crashes everytime I have tried to run it. What a huge disappointment.

I am sorry to say that 2008 jv16 PowerTool has not (yet) the stability of jv16-2007.

In many cases the 2008 version fails/aborts/partially functions were the 2007 version completes the job.

I quickly entered 3-4 error situations that do not happen with the 2007 version.

Yes this 2008 version was rushed to the marketplace and that is a pity.

Gentlemen;

Please consider the fact when PT2007 was officially released and distributed and how soon after that, PT2008 was pumped out. I wonder the release policy in any way follows MS OS release policy; send it out and they'll let you know about the bugs, and by the time we are half way through eliminating bugs in PT2008, we pump out PT2009 with new bugs.

I was excited about PT2008 but, reading about issues here, I am so glad it didn't even install on my computer. Not that PT2007 was fully functional. Disk wiper NEVER worked and my posted concernS in various sections of the forum were never addressed by anyone at Micecraft.

If you have found bugs from the PT 2008, please report them with detail and they will be fixed. If you simply do not like the new GUI, you can use the Settings tool to change the looks back to PT 2007's GUI, or go back to PT 2007.

As for the other comments: Every single computer software has bugs, this is not something that I have made up but is closely related to the law of physics stating that nothing can work with 100% efficiency. We use numerous techniques to avoid relasing a version with bugs that affect the way the program works.
