I had aan idea:

why not adding a function in PT2008 to import the backups from a former version automatically?

In my case, PT2007 is installed in a different directory that PT2008, so being able to import the backups from PT2007 in PT2008 would be a good idea. Or is there a simple way to import the backups without running the risk to damage PT2008?

Thank you.

Thank you Jan!

I copied the Backup-directory from PT 2007 into the PT 2008 directory and started PT 2008 again.

I seems to be working properly (no error message when opening the backup section, which immediately reads the backup list and displays it).

Thanks again.

Mathieu

Jan,

actually I did use the installer, but I went quite fast through it... but I can't remember it offered me any choice/option about importing backup from former versions.

My PT 2007 version had its own directory and I decided not to overwriting it, so I installed PT 2008 in its default directory "jv16 PowerTools 2008". When I started PT 2008, I discovered the backup section was empty. So it did nothing automatically on that part. Or did I mis something?

My guess is that you used the old installer instead of the new installer. The old installer doesn't have this functionality.

I don't understand: I just installed the very last version yesterday evening (1.8.0.444, on marth 3rd). It has only one installer version, hasn't it?

Read http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2951 for all information about the new installer.

Well, there isn't an "old" and a "new" installer...

Just an official installer (included with the software distributed by Macecraft) and an unofficial (linked by Jan).

The story is starting...

Some people are getting confused from now on...

The whole thing introduced by Jan should be moved somewhere away from this forum.

Maybe his friend in Taiwan could put a place at his disposal...
