The new installer is just as official as the old one, the new installer just has a lot of improvements compared to the old one. Since there are still no bugs found in the new installer it is perhaps better to remove the old installer to avoid confusion and have more people loss their data, etc. so that there will be only one installer again.

Well, I have removed the file from the website.

I shall only send my files directly to Macecraft like I did in the past.

The programmer himself will include the translation file in his own program.

I don't want the file used anymore in "unofficial" versions of the PowerTools.

That "new installer" is NOT part of the official program made by and distributed by Macecraft.

Only Macecraft will take the decision to include that "new" installer or not in the official PowerTools that will be released.

As for me, I will only use whatever installer is packaged by Jouni & Co.

For one thing, I never use the uninstaller. I keep many versions in parallel for the same reason jepe mentioned.

Also, multiple versions help with comparisons for debug purposes.

Jouni asked for the conditional uninstaller, and he got it, so why would he not use it?

I think the new installer looks great and works great. However, if the author of the new installer doesn't provide us a way to build the new installer I cannot use nor endorse it, I'm afraid.

Why can't you download and use the installer from the downloadlinks Jan posted (like everyone else does)?

If you would like something to be changed in the installer you can just ask Jan for it (in any way my improvement suggestion was implemented immediately), so the installer is exactly as you want it to be.

Remember you already use a lot of software you haven't build/compiled yourself (like Windows, Inno Setup, etc.).

Well, who are you to give as "new user" orders/instructions to the developer of our program?

I suspect jv wants, probably as a matter of policy, a version of the source code he can use in house to generate the Macecraft distribution packages.

For in house testing he could still use the old one, while using the new one with a lot of improvements and bug fixes for public releases.

I suggest closing this aimless discussion...

This has little or nothing to do with betatesting RC1 anymore.

The developer himself will do what he'll like to do.

I think Delphi has nothing to say/command in this matter.

If he/she likes the "new" unofficial installer, well then he/she will use it.

There have been enough posts about all that!

That's true Jean-Paul! We (Guru's) all do, trying to help each day (since years) other users with problems...

We'll wait and see if some other (new) users will be willing to help other users as much as we do.

Betatesting is one thing, helping other users with problems is another thing (and for that help Macecraft doesn't/won't give free licenses!).

What I wanted really to say is this: I noticed some users only appear when there is a betatesting to do with the only aim to receive a free license.

After the final version, you don't see them anymore at the forum, at least rarely...

Almost never saw posts of them helping someone else with problems.

That's what I wanted to say and what dissapoints me very much :
