Here is a report of bugs confirmed and/or fixed since the last report. All these fixes are included in the next released version (the final version).

Problem:

In the Directory tool for example if my "Search in" tab is empty and i try to start a search i get the error

": The following information must be provided in order to start:

Although the line "At least one source directory" looks like a clickable link it is not.

why is that? i expected that clicking on it will bring the "Search in" tab to the front for me to fill it. It is probably relevant for other errors as well (and all other tools that search for something)

Status: Confirmed. There indeed should. But I'm afraid we are already at RC1 stage and I cannot at this point any longer change the translation interface unless something critical comes up. A right-click menu will be added in the future.

I did further research with the scan engine settings. Using 2008 at normal setting, it finds the same number of errors, that 2007 does at that setting. You may want to clarify the various settings, in 2008 to make them, more understandable for the novice user. Using the safest setting will not find a number of errors, and using the most aggressive, could lead to more errors, than a novice would know, what to do with. I would imagine that novice and the more experience users, would benefit from, maybe a percentage figure, or some other type of setting, instead of the current settings, or maybe explain the various configurations with ghost over explanation.

The option to choose the installation directory in the new installer is not displayed if (any version of) the same application is already installed, so in case of an upgrade like in this case it's not possible to choose a different directory, the reason for this behaviour is that without an uninstall the installer is not able to remove the old installation directory, which could lead to a mess on the user's system. If you want the application to be installed in another directory you'll have to uninstall it first.

This is because jv16 PowerTools 2007 and jv16 PowerTools 2008 are both the same application: they both identify itself as being "jv16 PowerTools" instead of "jv16 PowerTools 2007" and "jv16 PowerTools 2008", which would be needed for having installed both versions at the same time.

Be careful when you've also used the old installer without uninstalling it first, since the old installer removes everything from the programs directory without notice.

When you just want to go back to jv16 PowerTools 2007 it's the best to use the new installer from here for that, so you won't lose any data.

When using the new installer for both versions it's very easy to switch between versions by just installing them (there is no need to uninstall) and with the new installer you can even make a silent install script for both versions so you wouldn't need to go througth the installation wizard at all.

When the final version of jv16 PowerTools 2008 is released there probably won't be any reason for you to still want to have jv16 PowerTools 2007 to be installed (and otherwise you could always copy the application files manually).

About the not opening Handbook: I think it's a Windows NT 4.0 issue. Remember jv16 saying he disabled the colored fonts when NT 4.0 was detected? Now look at the text in Jan's screenshot. And indeed: the fonts in the screenshot are... not colored.

Here is a report of bugs confirmed and/or fixed since the last report. All these fixes are included in the next released version (the final version).

Problem: renaming

* Search for all files in some folder

* Select on of the files

* Rename the file to a name of another file listed in the results and is in the same folder (using "More Functions...")

* The name will change in the results window and no error will pop up... (although the file obviously wasn't changed)

* Renaming one of the files again may now cause the other file to be renamed :)

Problem: Registry Manager / Software Manager: As i pointed out in some earlier version, the "find more information online" can use some filtering, names that start with the sign " for example makes it open a useless URL.

Problem: I selected an entry the chose Disable but prevented it from happening using a security software.

SM successfully reported Failed to remove ...! Windows core returned the following error: "Access is denied."

BUT it did update the Enabled column to No. (although it did nothing and even reported the error)
