Yes, jv16 PowerTools 2008 is supposed to work also under Windows 98, however, as you stated, the current beta versions don't yet work under Windows 9x. The issue will be fixed before the final release, or the Windows 98 will be removed from the supported OS list.

Registry Cleaner - minor string truncation

The path is truncated in a specific "Error description" as shown in the screenshot thumbnail.

Apparently there's a bug in extracting the string when the ending part of the folder name contains dots …

sorry if this has been reported before but in the startup manager the enabled column shows the name of the entry while the age column shows yes or no for enabled or not.

List filters -- too limited

The filter is case sensitive -- will this be changed?

Only the leftmost list column is filtered -- will the filter be extended to look at other columns?

Some examples of ""too limited"":

Software Manager -- one cannot filter on ""Software"" name

Software Manager -- with the Age System enabled, the filter choices are only ""Old"" or ""New""

File utilities -- one cannot filter on ""File"" name, only on ""Directory"" path

Registry Cleaner -- one can only filter on ""Error severity""

List filter input box -- delete key misinterpreted

When using the delete key to edit text in the filter box, the program acts like the ""Clear"" button has been clicked. This message occurs:

: The following information must be provided in order to start:

* Selection of at least one item from the list.

Much better in beta 2:

1. Filter now operates across all list columns.

2. Filter is (for the most part) case insensitive.

Remaining problems:

1. The first column filtering is still case sensitive.

2. One still can't use the delete key to edit the filter box text.

Where did you get jv16 PowerTools 2008 1.8.0.434 from?

I've only seen jv16 PowerTools 2008 1.8.0.433 (beta 1) and jv16 PowerTools 2008 1.8.0.435 (beta 2).

Not sure if anyone has experienced this problem, but, when I tried to change the Engine settings to a higher level of safety, the slider would not move. Don't know if this was the correction or not, but, when I unchecked and then checked

the box for the "List MRU', it started working.

I would confirm that on performing the quick analysis it failed after 5 minutes when it had approximately completed 80% and then after a further 5 minutes I aborted the analysis, i restarted the program and attempted to again a quick analysis...it quickly reached 60% and then once again it reached 80% and again I had to abort. I removed the program from the computer and re-installed but all to no avail, once again the analysis would not complete. :

The developer promised that those problems will be fixed in the next (RC1 ?) version.

Nevertheless I'd still prefer a splitting between the possibilities to (re)build the file cache and the quick system analysis, i.e. the possibility to run them separately.

Those two things melted toghether might be confusing for beginners: how should they know the quick system analysis is also building a (new) cache, in other words that they have to run the quick analysis to build a new cache?

It looks like that pair of concepts doesn't cover each other...

I agree here - there should be a clear, independent selection to rebuild the cache, rather than tacking it onto something else. One of the early things I wante to do was re-build the cache and couldn't find a clear way to do it.

Status: Not confirmed. However, I think I found the bug and it's now fixed.

There should be a way to recover from this "Never Show Again" choice. A user may make it in error, or may later change his/her mind. The "deselected" items should be kept somewhere where they can be perused and restored to the active list if so desired.

... Is there anyplace where ALL issues that have already been addressed since the last beta version are kept together

in one single location/list that we can double-check before reporting something?
