after running RS1.3 my systems shutsdown and resarts my lap top. This has only just started to do this. Any suggestions as to why and how to fix?

Regards - Eric

I Think there is an Blue-Screen error.

You can check this by doing the following.

1. Right-Click on My Computer > Properties.

2. Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings.

3. Uncheck System Failure > Automaticly Restart.

4. Click 2 times on OK and now try it again.

It could be that there will appear a Blue-Screen now, What is important is to check for some hex values something like "0x00000005".

You can check what this could mean on the following site: http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htmhttp://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm.

Hope this will help you (and us).

Thanks BlackDex but no joy. The program appears to finish its scan, then hang for a few seconds before closing and restarting.

What anti-virus products do you use? Could you try to turn off its automatic protection feature while using RS, does that help?

I am using Vet. and have been for years with no problem. Thinking about it the only changes that have been made was a virus alert because on an infection and since updating the latest microsoft update.

Could you try to turn off its automatic protection feature while using RS, does that help?

Thanks JV, I did try that but still no good. The other thig I have done is turn off System Restore and run a virus scan, again no good. There must be something in the registery as defragwill not do an analyse function. The worm I was infectedwith was Win32.Mytob.DW!ZIP

Have checked that site and sent files off to Vet for analysis and they came back with a claen report. So it appears it is not a virus problem.

Have uninstalled my firewall, virus and adware softawre and tried running RS and defrag in safe mode - still no joy. Any further advice on what I can do to fix my problem?

Thanx - stuffed eric

You can try to disable everthing that starts with Windows.

You can do this by the following.

1. Start > msconfig.

2. General {Tab} > Select 'Diagnostic Setup'.

3. Restart the computer and then check again.

If this works, then there defenatly is a program that interfearce with PowerTools. You can now try to enable those software entrys one-by-one.

If then for some reason PowerTools won't start, then that program creates the problem.

Hope this will help.
