It seems that every time JV16 Reg Cleaner is run, I encounter problems with Windows Desktop Search. WDS presents an error msg indicating it must shutdown, restart the PC and then it rebuilds the index.


I have not been able to absolutely confirm that this is a JV16 issue, but JV16 is the only reg Cleaner that I use. I suspect that JV16 might be wiping out a log associated with WDS.


Any others with this problem?

There is an easy way to tell whether jv16 PowerTools causes this: restore the backup created by the program, if this solves the problem the problem is caused by jv16 PT.


And if it does, please send the backup file (entries.reg) to us via http://www.macecraft.com/helpdesk/createticket/ and we can fix the problem for the next version.

I ran JV16 this morning to test if it wipes out WDS - and yes, it does. Just to make sure, I tried it twice (after allowing WDS to re-index the PC).


JV16 also seems to impact OneNote 2007 as both times I received this message (after performing a registry clean) that Outlook needs to re-install OneNote.


Finally, JV16 also seems to upset HP's Scan module (for a 7310 Multi-function Printer). I keep having to re-install its software.


Now for the dumb question - I looked all over for the log so I could send it to you. Where can I find it?
