Here are some news relating to the incompatibility of our products (jv16 PowerTools, RegSupreme Pro and RegSupreme) with 64 bit processors:

I have yesterday ordered a new test setup with a 64 bit Intel processor, after it arrives I'm hoping to release a 64 bit compatible version of all our products shortly (read: within one month).

???

I use Jv16 since ~20days.

I'm on Win XP Pro x64, and Jv16 work fine.

Tested too on Vista business x64 & Ultimate x64.

Somebody have error? Which error?

That's outstanding news, jv! Thanks!

Hi Raph4, I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 on an AMD quad-core system. With v1.7.0.413 (and earlier), registry scans never finish. I believe there were a few other odd things that happened with the registry compactor, uninstall utility and start menu tool, but it's been just long enough that I've forgotten specific details.

I'm on Quad-core too but Intel.

I find just .413 more long than .411, all work fine for me.

Jv16 64bits will be probably better for us 8)

wait and see

Some bad news, I'm afraid. We are having some problems in getting the new Intel Core2 quad test enviroment to work. Basically, it doesn't even start :|

This will delay the release of 64 bit compatible version.

Thanks for the serious effort, JV. Progress translates as two steps forward, one back, yes?

To be completely honest, I've purchased a one-year subscription to a competitor's product for the time being. Heresy? Maybe. But I'm convinced you'll continue to take the 64-bit issue seriously and I hope the recent PT license I've purchased will help subsidies your efforts.

As near as I can determine, your competitors are offering band-aid solutions. Why? Because instead of developing true 64-bit applications, they've been content to patch their existing 32-bit programs to somewhat questionable 64-bit compatibility.

Once again,

Godspeed, JV!

The new 64 bit test environment is now up and running, I'm hoping to release a 64 bit compatible version within two week before I'm leaving the office for a while.

Just to keep you all updated: the problem causing jv16 PT's (and RegSupremes') Registry Cleaner to hang under 64 bit Vista is now fixed.

The fixed version will be released within two weeks. The support for the 64 bit Vista is not yet complete, therefore I'm holding the release for a few more weeks.

The 64 bit vista is a bit tricky because it contains (kind of) two registry systems, 32 bit for 32 bit apps (the vast majority at the moment) and a 64 bit one for 64 bit ones. All of our products have been designed to work only with a one set of registry so supporting the both requires some major thinking.

So, at this point it looks like the next version will only contain a basic support for 64 bit Vista, that is, the program will run under it (the current versions freeze) but won't support both registry systems. This means that the next released version will run but doesn't clean the entire registry, only the most used part of it.

A full support will be included in the nearest future.
