Windows XP killed by registry cleaner

After Installing jv16 power tools, i tried the registry cleaner. The Programm found over 650 entries. I checked the first 50 to 60 entries and decided to delete them all. (totally stupid - i know (now)). The software asked for a backup and than i did the fatal deleting. After rebooting, the system hangs up during the windows starting screen. With the F8 key, neither the "safty mode" is running nor the "reset to the last as functional known working system". With a Linux distribution i can see the backup file of jv16, but i can`t work with it.

Is there any chance to reanimate my system?

Is there any possibility to restor the backupped file???

Have you tried to do a repair procedure using your Win XP boot CD?

Not yet, because i'm afraid of loosing my original program list and all the programms i have installed and i'm working with.

Will the repair pocedure change or kill all this things????

No it will only repair broken and missing windows xp important system files. You can also try to restore your registry from backup folder, read this for details http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545/

First at all; thank you for your answers.

In the article, microsoft wrote: "Die hier beschriebene Vorgehensweise garantiert keine vollständige Wiederherstellung des Systems in seinem früheren Zustand", that means in my opinion, that there is no guaranty to get a previous system back in original function. Only the handling of data will be o.k.

After restauration, i thing it makes no sence to go to the system control panel to restore a previous restauration point, to reinstall jv16 and restore the backup file in the registry cleaner. Or will this work?

Is there no other possibility to get back the jv16 backup in the existing registry????? (XP-console??)

jv16 PT stores registry backup on its own folder and after restoring your system to working state i'm sure you can use jv16 PT to restore all your previously deleted registry entries, because it doesnt delete the program folder but be carefull system restore can delete it if you restore to a date before you install jv16 PT. But why you need to restore your registry again? I mean by restoring your registry to previous one using above method, all your deleted registry already restored by windows right? But maybe you need to reinstall some of your software that installed after windows registry backup date.

What version of PowerTools did you use and did you use the Normal or the Aggressive scan mode?

I don't know exactly. i was looking for registry cleaner in the internet, so i found jv16 powertools. After installation i tried the registry cleaner as it works. So, i think, that it was not the aggressive scan mode.

Now i can't verify the version !?!

any idea ??

Hi,

i just tried the repair mode with the xp-cd.

After rebooting, the system still stop at the starting windows screen.

Any other ideas ??
