Can anyone offer advice.
Registry Find and Replace Bugs Errors and/or Does Not Work
ranonf171 wroteWhen the replace window appears there is no context menuwhen I right click or any menu. I just downloaded and installed the most recent update of jv16 Power Tools 2007 and had the same result. I see no mention of this in the forums. Perhaps my new computer is already corrupted. I will uninstall and reinstall to see what happens. ...
I just tried it -- your computer is not corrupted -- there are bugs in the tool …

Registry Find & Replace (Vista)
Bugs:
- 1. No context menu.
2. The check boxes are probably not supposed to be there (PT2006 did not have them).
3. PT2006 and PT2007 find items from the same keys, but PT2007 shows data from the wrong entry name on some lines.
Entries.reg for the items found (search word was RegSupremePro):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
"C:\\PROGRAM FILES\\JV16 POWERTOOLS\\Versions\\REGSUPREME PRO RC2\\REGSUPREMEPRO.EXE"="08/16/2007 12 AM"
"C:\\Users\\Owner\\Desktop\\REGSUPREMEPRO_SETUP_RC2.EXE"="08/16/2007 12 AM"
"g"="RegSupremePro.exe"
"DisplayIcon"="C:\\Program Files\\jv16 PowerTools\\Versions\\RegSupreme Pro RC2\\RegSupremePro.exe"
"C:\\Program Files\\jv16 PowerTools\\Versions\\RegSupreme Pro RC2\\RegSupremePro.exe"="jv16 PowerTools 2007"

These two bugs are now fixed.
3. PT2006 and PT2007 find items from the same keys, but PT2007 shows data from the wrong entry name on some lines.
I'm afraid I don't understand, could explain the bug in more detail?

For the entries from the entries.reg from the prior post, here are two screenshots.
PT2006 makes the expected change for all five of the lines shown.
PT2007 makes no change for the two highlighted lines. The other three lines cause correct changes.

Could someone advise me what it means when I get an automated response from Macecraft in response to my support request that says the "developer has reported about the issue"? I mean they haven't answered or fixed it. The bug is still there and I don't see a new version. I'm not complaining. I'm just new to the tool and the company. I guess I would have expected some kind of response that said we are working on it.
By the way, is there a bulletin board setting that causes the Subject line to be auto filled when you reply to a message or is that always manual?
ranonf171 wroteI just thought I would add that in XP Pro, it does not work at all. No changes are made. ...
Except as noted above, v 1.7.0.405 Find & Replace in XP Pro made all the changes I specified … I repeated the same test as done in Vista …
BTW, jv16 usually posts a fix report after he has a potential fix in hand … sometimes he posts asking for more information or just confirming the issue …
And I think the subject line is always manual in this bb software ... I could be mistaken ...

We are working on it. As tullik said, we usually only report when the bug is fixed. I'll try to fix this bug later today, the fixed version should be out in this week.

I just tried the "Quote" button -- I was mistaken:
If the post with the button has a title, it is automatically put in your reply's title prefixed with "Re:" ...
If the quoted post has no title, you do it by hand.
I'll defer to your expertise. Perhaps I was mistaken, but I thought that when I checked the registry I had to hand change each of the items I thought I had use the Find and Replace dialog on.
In any and all events, thanks to all for speedy replies.

The RF&R results window shows all the items it will change when you click "Replace." If you don't want some of the changes to take place, you are supposed to use the context menu to remove those lines from the list.
Unfortunately, as you reported, there is no context menu, so that choice can not be made until the bug is fixed.
ranonf171 wroteGot it. Thanks for the reply. Hopefully, a new version will be posted soon.
The new version will be released hopefully today.
