Seems to make no difference whatever I do to the settings?
Here is what I did:
a. File Settings
b. File Wiping
c. Times with ones & zeros set to 1
d. Times with random data set to 1
1. Start File Tool
2. File/Add Files
3. Open Test.exe (60MB)
4. Click on check box to select file
5. Click More Functions
6. Select Wipe
7. It now asks if I want to back up
8. Select NO
9. File is wiped (Took 3 seconds)
10. Message - All done! 0 B of data was removed (0 files and 0 directories).
I then set “Times with ones & zeros set to 9 & Times with random data set to 9” & file wiping still took 3 seconds.
Here are my questions:
The number of times a file is wiped seems to make no difference so what is happening?
Why on earth does it ask if I want to make a backup of a file I am wiping?
Why am I told at the end of the wipe that “All done! 0 B of data was removed”?
I only tried this program for the purpose of wiping files but it seems that nothing happens when I wipe them or am I doing something wrong?
Running - Vista Home Premium 32
