How Can I Go Back to jvPT2006?

Installed the 2007 version -- nothing works.

Clicking the Help>About menu item, or pressing F12, does nothing until I close the program -- then the License dialog appears - though it still doesn't tell me the version.

None of the selections works for me. Registry Cleaner, Software Manager... Clicking on them does nothing at all.

I cannot even get into File>Settings!

I have no idea what is wrong with this, but it is not ready for prime time, IMO.

I reinstalled the previous version over this one but that won't work now either. Guess I'll have to remove it altogether and clean up my registry another way.

Think I might have it now. I had to uninstall it, delete all folders/files it left behind, scan with a different registry cleaner and remove keys related to previous version, and only then reinstall.

When I "Checked for Upgrades" from the 2006 version, it offered to download and install it. If a "clean uninstall" was required, it should not offer as it did.

Instructions are greatly desirable.

The instructions may well be incorrect. The latest version (1.7.0.394) doesn't install data2.xbin -- that file was apparently causing license recognition problems for some users.

Personally, I always install

*** to a new folder

*** examine the folder and run a few tools to see what may be different

*** then just copy the differences to a primed new subfolder of the Versions folder (example here)

*** I don't run the uninstall -- I just delete folders that have no further use ...

Thanks Tulik. Seems to be working somewhat now. I am going to reinstall 2006 to another folder too - apparently they removed the Cookie Manager in 2007.

So many utilities have different instructions for upgrading - you must uninstall previous first; do NOT uninstall previous version; etc. etc. It is becoming difficult to do correctly without good instructions. Which is why I really appreciate the developers who do make it very clear what to and not to do.
