Disabling MRU/History data scan still picks up some MRU lists.

Entries picked up under CurrentUser and Users\Current User.

I made a run with just the File Reference scan and the MRU/History data scan active.

It showed 10 files in HKUS\...\Soft\MSoft\Win\CurVer\Explorer\ComDlg32\OpenSaveMRU\... with an error description of "File or directory "path" does not exist."

It showed the same 10 files in HKCU\Soft\MSoft\Win\CurVer\Explorer\ComDlg32\OpenSaveMRU\... with an Error description of "Useless registry entry."

Doing just one of the scans, it only shows one set of 10. Doing the other scan, you get the other set of 10.

I think this is probably by design in the new registry scanning engine.

By the way, windows "twins" these items. In other words, if you remove one set of the items with Registry Cleaner, windows automatically removes the other set, even if the other set is not on the Registry Cleaner list.

Registry Cleaner -- 2 small bugs -- Raw list only

When you run the tool, then, without closing the results window, change a thing or two in the tool settings, or change nothing, and click Start, the "Status indicator" does not show.

Also, when you do this, the thread count et cetera, in the upper right corner of the results window, does not show during the scan.

I'm running jv16 PowerTools 2007 version 1.7.0.394 on a Windows Vista Ultimate system. The Registry Cleaner Scan Report shows 116 High severity errors, but still shows 100/100 in the System health indicator. That just doesn't seem right, and it certainly is not consistent with what I'm used to seeing in jv16 PT 2006 (or even with some of the early beta versions of 2007, where I often saw a health rating of 5/100).

Any idea of what the problem is or how I can get it to show a system health rating that is representative of the number of errors showing up?

Thanks,

Roger

Confirmed -- I get 100/100 with 151 "errors" (though most are Low).

This has to be a bug ...

Would like to see an on-demand setting to turn off/on the messaging windows irregardless if there's any new or different messages to display.

Perhaps it could be toggled with a special combination of keyboard keys ...

One Click Cleaner -- a stranded window … ?

While in the One Click Cleaner window, I hit Ctrl+F1 hoping to get the main window. Instead the Software Manager started.

Is there a way to call up the main window while in the One Click Cleaner window?

hello,

the coming back of the cookies manager would be much appreciated

. . . and the handbook is the jv16 PT 2006 version. lol

Other than that it seems fine. But does anyone else notice that the windows seem to open and close more slowly? Like there's a pause for some reason?

EDIT: I installed the handbook version and got 1.7.0.388 . . . :

I have noticed the same with jv16 2007, the windows open and close very slowly. Any ideas?

Perhaps it is the working set acquisition … perhaps it is interpretation of metaDB.xdat … perhaps something else … perhaps all of those. Jouni has not said …

The delay of Registry Cleaner's Start button should be fixed in the next released version. Thank you for reporting the problem.

This has to be a bug ...

In v.1.7.0.399, I restored some errors from backup and got 80 items. The "health indicator" showed 88/100 -- so I guess this one is fixed ...

I'm still getting the "Unexpected change of results format" in the RegCleaner in .399.

I ran a scan Aggressive >> Raw Format >> Normal Mode, then I decided to de-select ActiveX/COM/DCOM/OLE/DDE. Then I ran another scan, and the Results Format had switched to Structured, unexpectedly.

Also, does anyone else get a bunch of "Bad Keys" related to nvmccs.dll when they run a RegCleaner scan with ActiveX/COM/DCOM/OLE/DDE selected? I've been getting these same errors since forever, lol. Since XP and earlier versions of JVPT. I've noticed that if I uninstall my nVidia Forceware drivers, the keys are gone too. So either nVidia repeatedly installs these "Bad Keys" or they're being detected erroneously. BTW, nvmccs.dll is in . . . \System32.

Lastly, why can't the column widths in RegCleaner be saved? There is a columns.dat file in Settings.

Since the first and last columns have fixed maximum sizes, perhaps it would be an easy change for jv16 to force those sizes when resizing …

You know, every other program I've used with a form like that saves column sizes, even freeware ones like Wise Reg Cleaner, so I don't see what the problem is.

I like using the RAW format and it's a pain in the butt to keep changing the columns every time I use it, especially when beta testing as I don't just select everything that JV16PT finds and delete it. I only delete things that I know won't hurt anything.

Which brings me to the "Bad Keys" related to nvmccs.dll. There's a whole bunch of them (so I won't post them unless I have reason to believe that JV is going to look at this issue) and I'm wondering what's up with them. If it wasn't for them, I'd be using "Aggressive Mode" all the time and not picking up much of anything. lol
