The name shouldn't be modified...

The real purpose of our (or an) 1 Click Cleaner is to combine several cleaning tools (such as File Cleaner, Directory Cleaner, History/MRU Cleaner, etc.) in ONE Tool.

With "1 Click" you are able to start the job of what otherwise several cleaners must do.

The purpose should (must) NEVER be to deprive the user of his control over the process or at least the desired results of that process.

That's what the final LIST with the items you can select (and check) is for.

Check other so called "1 Click Cleaners" and you'll see what I mean...

@redseujac,

That depends on what you want to clean. The way "One Click . . ." is now, allowing one to delete .DLL's, shouldn't be a one-click deal. Just as Reg Cleaning shouldn't be.

But, if one wants to set up "One Click . . ." to clean the Internet Cache, some MRU's, and the files in the Temp folders, then those don't need to be reviewed first. I use CCleaner for that all the time and I never have a problem because it only cleans unnecessary files. And all I have to do is to Dbl-Click my CCleaner /AUTO icon. If I had to click a thousand items in my cache before I could delete them, then I would rather set up a shortcut to my cache on my desktop and do it with Explorer.

This is what "One Click . . ." should be for; not for cleaning DLL's or "old" files, but cleaning/wiping user selected folders or files that the user would otherwise have to always clean manually or with some other tool made for that purpose.

I looked through the posts and didn't see anything related to this so my apologies if I've missed something.

Two items to note:

1) There's no icon for the defrag tool in the main window. Is this by design or will one be there in the final version?

2) When I go to Shortcuts -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter, it launches the default Windows defrag tool, which didn't seem right.

I'm testing on a Windows XP Pro SP2 system with the latest set of patches.

I can provide further details if necessary

The defragger was taken out for now. Read this - http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1932

OK ... I think that's enough for now, because I'm afraid we're risking to go off-topic :

Nope, this is under Windows XP Pro SP2.

Graphics is really a fresh breeze, absolutely love it, i do think that color scheme should be extended to all the windows, instead of the current gray.

now for the fun:

Registry compactor

Reboot still doesn't save.

Registry cleaner

preferences are saved only by saving them manually and not automatically (using the settings - remember window preference).

Abort bug still there.

Hello. Just installed RC3, but it failed to open after installation. It would create a taskbar entry that immediately disappears, and repeated that behavior each time. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program to see if there was a problem with the installation, but didn't seem to find any.

I checked permissions on ZoneAlarm Security, and essentially gave it full rein to access the internet, but that doesn't do anything either.

The link for purchasing it that sits alongside program icon does work, however.

If I watch it in Windows Task Manager, it appears briefly in the applications and processes windows, but disappears in a few seconds.

Size of the file in Program Files is 1,72MB.

The System Health Indicator bug reported here persists in RC3 though Tullik wrote in his report it was fixed.

Well, when I run Registry Cleaner in Raw mode I don't get the SH Indicator, saying "Only with Normal and Agressive scan...", though I ran an agressive scan.

Confirmed here...

When hitting the Abort button the scan continues ...

Maybe it means you get the SH Indicator only when in Quick Select Normal or Aggressive and in Structured List Mode? (because that's the only time I get it now.)

The same thing happens to me, it's very strange! Anyone know what might cause this?

downloaded and installed beta5, and yes, to a new directory. Chose to put icon on desktop--that worked. Nothing else does. When I click on icon, the program appears on Task Bar. When I click it, it disappears. I then tried running it from the subdirectory it installed in--same result. What's up?

File Cleaner, Temp dirs tab (Vista)

The tool sometimes does not remove all the selected files (in the user's Temp directory in this test)

  • 1. Those removed drop from the list

    2. Those not removed stay selected on the list, and there are no messages about these files ...

    3. An immediate rescan shows the files are still in the directory

    4. Select and remove this second time works as expected (they drop from the list and are deleted from the directory)

History/MRU Cleaner, incorrect backup/remove process (Vista)

Reference: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=9504#9504 -- History/MRU Cleaner, unadvised backup

History/MRU Cleaner backup/remove process:

  • 1. A file (PT2007.xls) was placed in a folder that will be cleared by History/MRU Cleaner, and then the file was opened.

    2. History/MRU Cleaner was run -- "Show data" showed the PT2007.xls file.

    3. Clear was done -- History/MRU Cleaner displayed these messages:

  • : Failed to remove "C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office\Recent\PT2007.xls"! Windows core returned the following error: "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

: All done! 2.1 KB of data was removed (3 files, 0 directories, 0 registry entries and 0 registry keys).

4. History/MRU Cleaner put a copy of PT2007.xls in the backup. The original stayed where it was.

5. Changes were being made to the original PT2007.xls. After a time, it was closed.

6. A total restore from the Backup Tool would wipe out the changes.

7. Backing up a file which can not be removed is incorrect backup/remove processing.

File Cleaner backup/remove process:

  • 1. A file (PT2007.xls) was placed in a users Temp folder, and then the file was opened.

    2. File Cleaner was run -- the PT2007.xls file was in the File Cleaner results list.

    3. The PT2007.xls line was selected and the Remove button was clicked -- File Cleaner displayed these messages:

  • : C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\ analyzed.

: The File Cleaner is now finished. The found files are listed in the File Cleaner window.

Warning: Always verify the found files before removing them!

    : Failed to access "C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\PT2007.xls"!

: All done! 32.58 KB of data was removed (6 files and 0 directories).

4. File Cleaner did not place PT2007.xls in the backup. The original stayed where it was.

5. Changes were being made to the original PT2007.xls. After a time, it was closed.

6. A total restore from the Backup Tool would not wipe out the changes.

7. Skipping the backup of a file which can not be removed is correct backup/remove processing.

History/MRU Cleaner needs to do file backup/remove processing as it is done by File Cleaner …

Just curious -- why are the messages different for essentially the same conditions?
