I am running Windows Professional on a Compaq Presario Desktop.
I have used reg cleaner for years and loved it, so downloaded jv16 PowerTools 2006 trial version 1.5.2.350 to remove a couple of programs I couldn't get rid of. I did click to backup the registry, but found out later jv did not do this.
It removed the programs just fine! But I get the Windows installer wanting to install programs everytime they start now. When I try letting them re-install I get the message Windows Patch Package could not be opened.
I tried doing a system restore first, twice, and got the message no changes were made.
I next tried a repair install of Windows--get the same message.
I cannot un-install the programs, re-install them, or use them.
What did I do, and can I fix it without wiping my hard drive with a clean install of Windows?
I love the tool, and will probably buy it if I can fix my computer!
