Hi all,
I've been a dedicated user of JV Tools since RegCleaner and I am proud to say that it was one of the best pieces of software ever written for PC. With its help and that of Vopt (a disk defragmenting tool)I've managed to keep my outdated laptops and PC running far better than the rest of my colleagues using similar machines.
I just reccently got a huge upgrade and have the fastest machine in my workplace and am the only one running vista despite the fact that its unsupported- sooner or later we gotta switch being dependant and climatised to microsoft. However, using JV Tools crashed my system twice- both times using reg cleaner.
I'm sharing this so that developer JV himself and the staff at Mace Craft will be able to help all the dedicated users like ourselves cope, not so much with JV Tools but with using JV Tools in Vista.
I understand that it's not fair to dump OS problems that you are not responsible for but here are some suggestions in the meantime that might help us users while waiting for JV 2007:
1) Help us identify what CAN or CANNOT be done with JV 2006 in Vista.
From the various posts here, see if it is because of running registry cleaner in safe mode, or aggressive mode that causes the problem
2) Help us identify whether we need to disable User Account Control to run the program properly
3) Should we set Compatibility Mode to Windows XP SP2?
4) I made backups each time I ran registry cleaner and file cleaner but when the system crashed, restoring my registry didn't help. I got the same blank black screen as mentioned in one of the previous posts.
-Is it possible that File Cleaner has deleted some .dll files or system files?
- Is it possible that Registry cleaner has removed entries that are crucial to the Vista operating system?
Please look into this and post a reply soon for all the anxious users and fans who use JV Tools on a regular basis.
Certainly, we don't expect you to know all the answers and reasons for the unexpected crashes (even microsoft is hard pressed to do that for vista) but a transparent 'we don't know' is also a valid answer to many supporters rather than a false assurance that everything is ok and should work fine.
We want to see JV Tools work because it is a good piece of software, at affordable price. By addressing our concerns here before JV 2007 is out at least you can give Vista users a clear signal of either:
1) Do not install JV 2006 on Vista for time being, wait for Jv 2007
or
2) If you want to use JV 2006, then please do the following....
Hope this post meets with your understanding and action.
