Hi jv
Here are my findings from a few hours of testing :)
Backup Tool:
1. Searching doesn't deselect the current selection, so the results are misleading. (Since in that window the found items are not marked with a tick, the highlighted items should first be deselected)
2. When backuping the start menu it should also include the "All Users\Start Menu" folder, i think that what PT backed up in my case wasn't even half of my menu because of that.
Password Protection Window:
Startup Manager:
1. Why am i being forced to disable only one item at a time ("Selection of only one software from the list to which the operation should be performed.")?
Registry Manager
1. Every time i open a fresh season of PT and open registry manager i only have one item showing in the Add\Remove tab (even the total status bar field says 1). After i switch tabs the list is filled with my full add remove list.
Registry Cleaner:
1. Seems to be buggy, that health graphs window popped up 3 timed with different graphs after one of my test runs, couldn't reproduce it again.
2. Doesn't do anything for me in the Raw list style, I selected one and clicked on the fix/remove button, it said "* Selection of at least one item from the list"
3. Doesn't do anything for me in the structured list style too, "All done! 0 registry errors fixed, 0 invalid registry keys and 0 registry entries removed (0 B of invalid data in total)." every time i tried to select something and fix.
Registry Finder:
1. I selected one item form the results, chose remove and got the " Selection of at least one item from the list" error.
Registry Monitor:
1. Umm... why do i have 2 items there dated 30.12.1899, 00 with blank comments and a 439B size?
UPDATE: i now have 17 items with that date but with different file sizes, must be some backups/temp files of PT wrongly interpreted as registry snapshots.
2. Searching doesn't deselect the current selection first as in Backup Tool
3. The change back button is active even if there are no changes.
Registry Compactor:
1. Size after is N\A, why?
File Finder:
1. One time, after tinkering with this tool a bit, the size column (for example) was populated from somewhere in the middle of the list down and then from the top down, in that season when i added another column (MD5) it was populated in the same weird order.
2. Select a file, Remove it. now select another, choose Analyze/View/Rename from the Extended functions popup menu: It will fail and tell you " Selection of only one file to which the operation should be performed".
3. i managed to get only "Failed to access" errors for trying to "find and replace"/"Mass rename"/"Encrypt" in the Extended functions popup menu when playing with this tool and i had to restart the tool.
i will try to reproduce it again in the next version after the remove bug is fixed.
File Cleaner + File Tool:
1. The problems of File Finder exists in these tools also (try to remove an item and then Analyze another for example).
2. After you "Empty" a file, it says "All done! 0 B of data was removed (0 files and 0 directories)." although it did empty the file.
Duplicate File Finder:
1. shouldn't the number of duplicates next to the size tree category be updated after i remove an item?
Directory Finder/Directory Tool:
1. The empty function from the extended functions always return "All done! 0 B of data was removed (0 files and 0 directories).
" even when it does remove files.
2. Removing a parent folder should remove the child folder too from the list IMO.
Start Menu Fixer:
It found 12 empty folders for me.
1. After choosing some items and hitting fix it says "0 broken shortcuts fixed, 0 broken shortcuts removed, 0 empty directories removed."
It indeed does nothing (i am not sure whether it should remove the folders in that case or not) but it also grays out the remove and the fix buttons for no apparent reason. I have to highlight another item in order to make them active again.
As you can see i ran in some weird glitches.
Since i am only at home for 3 days every 2 weeks (more or less every other weekend) i hope i get the chance to beta test it further - it's been a while since i beta tested PT :) i am on a compulsory military service now so it's not that easy to find the time anymore :?
