I am seeing the same no valid license message as everybody else. I have tried it on three diffrent computers with different versions of Vista and get the same message on all three..

Sorry, we encountered an error while displaying this content. If you're a user, please try again later. If you're an administrator, take a look in your Flarum log files for more information.

I too am suffering from the license problem. I've installed the new RC1 on a machine running XP Pro 32 and another machine running XP Pro 64 with no joy. It won't open.

Both machines ran the previous betas.

Just installed RC1 yesterday. No license problems, but LOTS of jv16 not responding msgs. And clicking the help menu while running the registry cleaner alternately

  • 1. does nothing

    2. displays the main panel

    3. whites out the progress dialog and produces another "not responding".

Registry Cleaner normally uses nearly all the CPU cycles.

You can see it happening if you bring up task manager's performance tab before you start RC.

It would be nice if one could switch to other windows more quickly while RC runs. I expect jv will do some tweaking along those lines before the final product release.

Replaced by this report: http://www.macecraft.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=9501#9501

Switching to other windows is not what I'm trying to do. I selected Help only after RC started flickering. Also, I get lots of "failed to remove - invalid registry item" msgs AND selecting custom fix, if I try to manually fix the data, the field to edit the dialog is a mere slit, about this size:

Failed to remove "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\device"! Windows core returned the following error: "Invalid key"

Is one example. I notice you got (and posted) the same msg, so it's not peculiar to my setup.

Now for the bugs:

Registry cleaner: the ..running in aggressive mode.. warning displays on every run.

Are you sure? The Aggressive mode warning is shown 10 times, not only once as most other warning messages.

drob wrote

Hitting abort while the scan is in progress, then exiting the tool and rerunning it gives the error .. tool is already running...

Could you give exact steps how to reproduce this problem?

Automation tool: creating a task for registry cleaner then running it from the desktop, jv16 opens hold for a second then exits, not task seems to run.

With what settings did you configure the Registry Cleaner to be run?

Registry compactor: doesn't save the select all hives and reboot between runs.

The selection of all hives is not saved because it's not saved in any other parts of the program either. The reboot setting not being saved is a bug.

Not all the "scan finished" messages appear in the message box. It is unpredictable which ones will appear.

Could you please show a screenshot of this problem?

Approximate timings:

  • PT 2006 -- 40 seconds -- 143 items on list

    PT 2007 Beta5 -- 40 seconds -- 0 items on list

    PT 2007 RC1 -- 100 seconds -- 0 items on list

When ignore words for certain "TrustedInstaller" keys are used, PT 2006 shows only 4 items on the list. Two are "File or directory does not exist" and two are "Useless file extension." Beta5 and RC1 still show 0 lines -- apparently the "TrustedInstaller" keys are being skipped (on purpose?).

That is correct, the PT 2007 contains many Vista compatibility tweaks. These include many registry keys and entries which would be better to ignore and not to list as errors.

I removed Leftover data (Obsolete software items) - no problem -- all 38 were backed up and removed.

However, the byte count in the "All done" message is incorrect.

I removed Invalid file extensions -- expected to remove 14 keys and 4 entries -- 16 keys and 4 entries are in the backup -- received several "Invalid key" error messages.

...

: Failed to remove "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AudioEngine"! Windows core returned the following error: "Invalid key"

...

Could you please use RegEdit and verify whether some of these keys actually exist or not?

For example, does these keys exist:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.wmd

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\{2C256447-3F0D-4CBB-9D12-575BB20CDA0A}

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CompatUI.SelectFile.1

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\device

When running a raw list, there is no scan report -- I suppose this is by design

No, this is not by design. The scan report should show always, if:

* The scan was not aborted with the Abort button

* Don't pop up the result window... setting is not checked under Reg Cleaner's settings

* The program is not running in a scripted mode

* You haven't checked "Do not show this dialog again" setting from the Scan Report window.

Can you repeat the problem?

Also, please explain what the debug "Save app data" button does -- for example, what does it save and where does it put the data and ... whatever ...

The button should not be visible, it's a bug.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CompatUI.SelectFile.1

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\device

They all exist and all have at least one subkey which contain entries. I will include regedit exports along with the one you requested in PM.

Screenshots showing the problem of missing messages have already been posted here and here.

I usualy only get one message and what it is varies ...

Yes, it happens every time.

Sometime after I made the quoted post, I realized it was a bug -- see here.

jv16 in continues to your questions:

Registry Cleaner:

Yes after 10 runs, warning massages disappear, i do think however 10 runs is exaggerated, 3 runs should do it.

Abort bug:

Running Registry Cleaner in aggressive/reference/structured/automatically delete mode.

while the scan is running, hitting abort, then close, then relaunching the Registry Cleaner, you either get a warning - the tool is already running, or nothing happens at all.

Automation tool:

Running Registry Cleaner in aggressive/reference/structured/automatically delete mode. exit jv16 when done, from the desktop.

Launching via the desktop shortcut, the tool opens as a task bar icon for a second or so, then exits. this is happening also after passing the 10 runs waning rule.

Registry compactor:

Reboot does save, i wish the other hives would as well.

it still doesn't fix any of the found reg errors here - help please
