Help! JV16 Won't Start At All!!! :cry:

When I attempt to run JV16 Power Tools 2006, I get the following error dialogs:

1. Internal error: Program failed to initialze. Code: 05.

Note spelling error on "initialize"!

2. This error is usually caused by Windows Data Execution Prevention. Please

add jv16 Power Tools to DEP's exclusion list (Control Panel > Sysem >

Advanced > Performance Settings > Data Execution Prevention > "Turn on DEP

for all programs and services except those I select" and add "C:\Program

Files\JV16 Power Tools 2006\jv16PT.exe" to the list).

3. If that doesn't help, please add "C:\Program Files\JV16 Power Tools 2006

\jv16PT.exe" to the exclusion list of your anti-virus product.

Then a folder with many icons "flashes" onscreen and disappears.

I have followed the instructions and it STILL doesn't work! I purchased one month's worth of technical support. Please advise.

N.B.: I previously tried JV16 (trial version) and had its time expire; might this be the source of the difficulty?

That "folder" is probably the Power Tools main window.

I hope you copied the purchased license into the folder where jv16PT.exe resides ... if you did not, put it there and see if it makes a difference ...

When the license is present, the trial version magically becomes the purchased version and your name appears in the Title bar of the main window ...

IMPORTANT UPDATE!:

This problem has been resolved!!!

The difficulty WAS with Windows DEP, after all! I was misled because there was no error message from the DEP system when attempting to start JV16 2006. However, the most recent issue of the "Windows Secrets" newsletter (which I most strenuously recommend, by the bye -- check it out at http://www.windowssecrets.com!!!) mentions that DEP can sometimes kick in without any notice to the user whatsoever; and this proved to be the case for JV16!

Further adding insult to injury, when I first visited the DEP portion of the "System" applet, not only didn't I see any reference to JV16 (which wasn't my fault, since it in fact wasn't there!) but I also failed to notice the "Add" button at the bottom, which would have permitted me to put it on the list manually!

Said button has now been Noticed and Clicked, and "C:\Program Files\JV16 PowerTools\JV16PT.EXE" added to the DEP exclusion list...

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!
