Defragmentation for a 3.5GB partition has been running for 30 minutes, and is at 10% finished. Visually, it appears to be operating at a snail's pace. I am tempted to halt the procedure.

Hello from Hamburg/Germany

Desctop-Pc with Vista Home-Premium (in german).

If I run the 2007/Beta5 Registry Cleaner, he offers me (together with others) 2 entries as low:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Start Menu\Programs\Spiele\{KEY} : {KEY}

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Start Menu\Programs\Spiele\Order : N/A

When I remove this keys, than in start/Programme/Spiele the sequence is changed:

old (my favorite sequence) = 1. Freecell 2. Solitaire 3. Hearts ....

new (automatic changed) = 1. Chesstitans 2.Freecell 3. Hearts ....

I think, this may be a little bug.

Greetings cableman/Peter

30 days over and so is the trial.

5 days later

i'm using vista home premium

when starting the program, it only shows up in the toolbar, and if I don't click on it soon enough, it closes.

when using the registry cleaner, it sometimes doesn't alert that it could be dangerous to use the aggressive mode. It also sometimes doesn't ask if I would like to make a backup of the registry before fixing/removing.

this program sometimes doesn't alert the user when it has completed the task. you just have to use common sense and a lot of people don't have common sense when it comes to computers.

when the program works right, it's great. I'd suggest making it look more appealing to the eyes. it sort of looks like something you'd find on windows 98.

How can you guys use this still? It expired for me last week.

Some ppl have a valide license which works with the beta version.

Little thing that maybe can be added . . .

In the Settings of the program - Maintenance, when clicking to remove something, the dialog attached in the lower screen says only done.

I think a good feature would be to add the dialog before the done, what was erased like... flushed cache - done.

I got some ideas... for new features, but that's not for now... currently we are on the last part of the beta cycle... maybe for next version

Good idea. Should be easy to do ... I think jv is likely to include in RCx ...

jv has said there will be perhaps five RCx versions before the first official release. Why not post your easier-to-do ideas -- jv might include in a Release Candidate version. And you can post your more complex ideas in the Feature requests Forum ...

After reading about the "Leftover Software Module" I was thinking about expanding it a bit and cleaning directories, and dll's also, to completely cleanup the old app, that was found. I didn't understand that this is a part of the Module, so it is an important addon, to clean up, everything, not only the registry of old programs, etc.

Another good search could be in the Program Files Directory, to search for empty main folders, etc, and then search for connected registry info of that old folders... to optimize a bit more that Leftover Software, since most programs are installed there, is a leftover directory is there, it will delete it.

A little thing, that Leftover should, i think it will, check on the add/remove software (Control Panel) list that is in the registry and there delete or check from there for leftover software that is there but not installed, etc.

jv, when you tell the Directory Finder tool to search in C:\Program Files for directories that are smaller than 1 byte, it includes C:\Program Files\jv16 PowerTools\Backups in the found list.

Mine shows 61 subdirectories (correct), Files 0 (incorrect), and Size of contents 0 B (also incorrect).

The Tasks and Snapshots directories also show on the list. Mine are empty, so I don't know if the bug affects them also.

The other 72 lines appear to be OK. The directories are either:

  • completely empty, or

contain only completely empty subdirectories, or

contain only subdirectories which only contain zero length files

.....I suppose that means RC1 will be available late in April or sometime in May ...?

That, plus an earlier comment that jv mentioned as many as FIVE RC's coming leads me to belive this might have been named jv16 Power Tools 2008 ! :

Look, I'm new to this software. My beta expired a while ago. I know many of you here will expect me to be like the long-timers who have an old license and be patient. Or perhaps buy a 2006 license so I can use the expired betas, upcoming RC's that might also expire, and wait (and wait). I can't afford to be that patient or devoted. 'Sorry.

My apologies to those who feel I'm unfair, but I know new users like me who came to this software while looking for something similar will understand. Good luck to jv. I hope it turns out to be all he hoped it would be (or at least enough of a difference from 2006 to encourage new users). I can't go for periods without the use of software, and I'm not confident enough to buy when the actual release is many months out. I have to purchase something elsewhere that's ready for prime time. I don't know what that is yet as I was holding out for this and didn't spend much time searching, but I will look around today as I have some time off.

jv, I hope you understand. I also apologise if this wasn't posted in the right area.

Thanks for the 30-day trial of your beta.

Run 1

High Errors 154

Medium Errors 47

Low errors 1

Lowest errors 0

Ran Fix and from the 202 errors reported 14 were corrected and 188 removed, but 1 remained highlighted namely:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\IMEJP\10.0\directories\

Ran Fix again which removed the above

Run 2 (immediate run)

High Errors 5

Medium Errors 0

Low errors 0

Lowest errors 0

Ran Fix which corrected 3 of the 5 with 2 remaining namely:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\IMEJP\10.0\directories\ - again

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Current Version\IME\China\imesc\Directories\

Ran Fix again which removed both items

Run 3 (immediate run)

Identified the same two issues which Fix removed, but they kept coming back on subsequent runs.

Hope this helps.

When installing, don't let the file cache run.

After installing, go to "File" > "Settings" > "Messaging" and tick "Show Messages in Message Windows". Check also "Display detailed data from the program's core".

I have used the defragmentation tool. The hang-up is the windows vista partition.

Hi guys I have had no trouble downloading previous beta builds ,I uninstalled the last build, rebooted and downloaded the new one no problem. But when the installation is complete and I open it : it wants a licence code.

I have uninstalled and done the download again, still the same question
