BUGS?

This is what happens in Regisrty Cleaner on my PC : I have Kav 6 installed as antivirus ; when I scan for registry errors , a lot (more then 100) of keys are indicated as severe errors ; all of them relied to KAV ; I will give more details if anybody shows interested ; this is NOT the point ; the point is : after detection , I click : Fix (selection on severe errors) ; then apparently the program works ; now if I make a new scan , (whatever if I close JV 16 PT and restart the program or not) , THE SAME SEVERE ERRORS are still there . Is this a bug? If not , explanations required . Thanks OLIVIER GEBUHRER

I think it's not a bug...

Probably the entries cannot be removed because of the "Self-Defense" setting in KAV or KIS.

Go to "Settings" > "Service" > Uncheck the box that says "Enable Self-defense". Click OK and leave KAV or KIS.

Run Registry Cleaner again and the entries should be removed.

Don't forget to enable Self-Defense again by checking the box in "Service".

Sorry , but I DID uncheck the box unable selfdefense in KAV settings prior to run Registry cleaner in JV 16 PT ; it does not have any bearing on this strange behaviour ; moreover why are those keys described as severe errors ; as soon as selfdefense is reactivated the keys are back in the registry ! At least this is my experience . I will check over again , but ...still this fact about SEVERE ERROS troubles me a lot . OLIVIER GEBUHRER

I maintain : I just checked : the problem is already in Jv 16PT 2006 not surprisingly ; whatever the settings even by not checking the Setting selfdefense in KAV 6 PRO , the mentioned erroneous keys are immdiately rewritten in the registry even when seldefense is not activated ; I checked all over again ; now , the problem remains : why are those keys described as severely erroneous ? And if they are , why is it not possible to write down corrections ? Why is it impossible to get rid of them ? OLIVIER GEBUHRER

OK, maybe you can't get rid of them because of this?

As to the Kaspersky entries, I am working myself with Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) (now version 6.0.1.411) and a while ago the Registry Cleaner gave me too listings with several always reappearing KIS entries indicated with "error severity" as "high", just because the file (or directory) the value pointed to didn't exist anymore.

I was always able to remove the entries after disabling Self Defense.

Fortunately with the new version of KIS I don't have those "problems" anymore.

So, I think you don't have to worry too much about.

By the way, can you give some examples of such KAV entries?

I replied in another post related to JV16PT 2006 , that , unfortunately , the indicated procedure does not work ; in fact some features of the registry will escape to my understanding forever , I fear ; permissions are one of them ; anyhow any attempt ither using the indicated procdure to add EVERYONE and granting all permissions or attempting to check the permissions in the checkboxes corresponding to "CREATOR OWNER " fail miserably as I explain inthe above mentioned topic ; maybe I should say that attempting to do so is done while Selfdefense in KAV is disabled ....

now regarding the keys , some examples of course (there are about 100 of them.... )

The former one by the way is something extraordinary : there is no way to get rid of it or of analog (they are some of the same kind) while the program corresponding to these keys has been uninstalled since a long time !!! Moreover remnants of the program creates a blue screen at startup which should have disappeared with the program (it is NOT A BSOD!!!) .

Finally , nobody answers my question : WHY ARE THOSE KEYS INDICATED AS SEVERE ERRORS if one cannot coorect them ??????????

Please, reread my post before your last one...

Those always reappearing Kaspersky entries were precisely the ones you have indicated in your last post as "HKLM\...\sImagePath:...".

As to me after disabling the Self Defense setting, those entries could be removed by the Registry Cleaner. I don't know why it's not the case for you :

I repeat that after upgrading to the most recent version of Kaspersky Internet Security, those entries are not listed anymore by the Registry Cleaner.

I don't know why those entries are listed with "error severity" as "high" (maybe because the file/directory the value points to does not exist anymore). jv16 himself could probably answer that part of your problem?

Anyway I'm convinced that those "wrong" entries are not dangerous at all for the good working of your computer.

So, if you want to get rid of those entries to be listed, add something to the Ignore words tab of Registry Cleaner, something like "KasperskyLab" (without quotes) or "sImagePath" (without quotes) :

I know that my erros are the same you mentioned ; if you do not know why I can't remove them manually , neither do I and evidently these "supposed " HIGH errors are insignificant nad they SHOULD be removed from the "HIGH errors" classification; of course there are infinite numbers of ways to get rid of those items in the scan ; but still , it's mystery ; JV did not apparently find the problem interesting enough to answer !!Thanks anyway for paying attention .
