Hello all.

Can I change folder details for multiple folders (directories) with jv16 PowerTools 2006?

By that I mean the columns showing in Windows Explorer whenever you view a directory. For example, I view most of my folders in the Details mode. However only a few columns show by default. I have always gone into View>Choose Details to select the specific columns and their order, but this has to be done on a folder by folder basis. You can select "Apply to All Folders" in the Windows Explorer properties dialog, but that only affects the viewing mode - Thumbnails, List, Details, etc. but not the details to view for each folder.

Can jvPowerTools 2006 assist with this?

Also, Directory Tool seems to be kind of weak - I can select a directory but not its subdirectories. Why is that? For example, if I select the directory, "D\My Documents", that directory shows, but the column "Subdirectories" has "N/A" in it. I cannot find anyplace in the menu items to select "Include Subdirectories", or to check a box that will allow all subdirectories to show for any given directory. Without showing the subdirectories, I can't see what I can do with the Directory Tool that is of much use. I have a feeling that the capability is there but I am just not seeing it for some reason.

Thanks in advance for any help and advice!

Hello,

J-Mac wrotes:

directory shows, but the column "Subdirectories" has "N/A" in it

Have a look at the end of page 66 in the handbook.

Jean-Paul

Yes? I'm not sure what the point is.

I have read the manual and I am not certain what you are getting at here. I see there that I can Explore, Move, Wipe, Empty, Rename, or Delete a directory. That much is clear.

If you are referring to the line that says it will show N/A if you drag a directory to jvPowertTools; as I posted, I "selected" a directory, I didn't drag anything to the Directory Tool.

So, again: I can select a directory but not its subdirectories. Does anyone know why? Or if there IS a way to show the subdirectories with Directory Tool?

Thanks.

Hello J-Mac,

Well, in my handbook, the last paragraph on page 66 is:

The Subdirectories, Files and Size of contents columns show “N/A” if the directories were dragged.

The data is shown only if the Directory Finder was used.

P.s. Finder uses allways Directory Tool to show its results.

I hope this is what you are looking for.

If not you could post a feature request under "PowerTools 2007", which is currently under development.

For the first part of your initial post, I don't see a way to do this with "PT" - so this could be another feature request.

OK, I'll head on over to the 2007 forum, Jean-Paul.

Thanks!
