Missing export NTDLL.DLL (under 98SE) in jv16 349

I just downloaded and installed JV16 2006 1.5.2.349.

When I open it I get a small window with this message:

"A device attached to the system is not functioning."

When I click the OK button, the window closes and another small window opens, with this message:

"The JV16PT.EXE file is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL."

When I click the OK button, the window closes, but JV16 does not appear.

As to the second problem, I am running Windows 98SE on a machine too ancient to upgrade to a modern OS. Since Win98 does not support NTFS, there is little reason to have NTFS support, but the file NTDLL.DLL exists anyway, 20 KB, dated 1999.

Is there a new version of NTDLL.DLL that I should have?

As to the first problem, one would like to have JV16 available when a device is not functioning. (The only problem reported by Device Manager is that Advanced Power Management is not functioning; but I turned it off in the BIOS setup; this should not cause any trouble.) There are, of course, a few USB devices that are "installed" but are usually off or not attached. There are not (and never will be) enough ports to attached them all simultaneously.

In any case, it is not at all good when JV16 refuses to start. Please suggest a workaround, or make available the last previous release, 344 or later.

I also am having a problem with the new upgrade. I first tried updating from within JV16 but after the download I had a non funcitoning screen shot. I deleted and tried to download a new clean copy.

I got tow error messages:

Linked to missing export NtDLL.DLL: NTFS control file

and

Unable to execute file

C/Js16power tools/2006 Jv16pt.exe

Shell execute failed Code 5

I am using 98SE and Jv16 worked fine up to last update.

This looks like jv16 PowerTools was still active when you did the new install - so the .exe file could not be overwritten.

i have the same problem :

operating system w98SE

i tried all :

downöloaded the latest versin of NTDLL.DLL and installed it to Windows\system .....didnt help

uninstalled old version ov JV16 - rebooted and installed latest version ... dindnt help

was lucky to have an older version as back-up .

proposal : if there atre newer version , have a download link availbl of older versions .

i also notoced that on W98SE that update function doesnt work . when using the update - check it says newer version n/a .

Atfter having a problem downloading 1.5.2.349 I uninstalled 1.5.2.344 and was left with no functioning version. For those like me you may want to try Tucows download site. They have not yet updated to ver 349. I downloaded 344 and it is working.

Hopefully Macecraft will fix the problem with 1.5.2.349 and we can continue to benefit from future upgrades.

Tried to install the latest version in my old w98 laptop but had the same problem. I assumed there is no solution and i won't be able to use in this computer the license I bought.

Can anyone let me know what the solution is?

I'm sorry, this is my mistake. The latest PT 2006 already contains some new features of PT 2007, they are only hidden from the user. Some code seems to be NT specific so the new PT 2006 doesn't work under any Win9x systems.

I'll fix the problem and issue an updated version of PT 2006 which also works under Win9x at the end of this week or on Monday.

Before that, you can downgrade to the previous version. The previous version can be downloaded from:

http://www.macecraft.com/downloads/jv16pt_setup_hb.exe_1.5.2.344

Rename the file to .exe before running it.
