Why must JV16 PT go to MACECRAFT while cleaning? Spying?

I have noticed that when I use registry-cleaner (Jv16 2006 v.344) my "firewall-gauge" shows tremendous traffic to "somewhere", I presume macecraft.com

Why is that so?

During the cleaning-search why has the cleaner-function get in touch with macecraft?

I guess you have the Registry Cleaner's security update service enabled. Its function is explained in detail in the Handbook, but it basically it downloads latest safety updates to the Registry Cleaner engine and doesn't send any private data to us.

This can also be verified with a packet sniffer application which shows exactly what data each application sends and receives.

The feature is disabled by default, the first time you start jv16 PowerTools you are asked whether to enable this feature or not.

If you wish stop to using the feature you can disable it, and all PT's network features from Settings > Network features.

Pardon me all but I have just used the function "Don´t use the central server to improve performance" and let registry-cleaner run once more

RESULT: The same activity as before! No matter if "normal" or "agressive"

In addition to my last post:

I have done a "test" just then.........

I have deleted the "Jv16 power tools"-entry from ZoneLabs and gave reg-cleaner a go: STILL ACTIVITY to go in internet!

Then I shut down ZoneLabs totally and used reg-cleaner again: ZoneLabs gave 4 signals from JV attempting to go internet!!

In both cases all network features were set passive in the settings of JV16.

As soon as I start the run of JV reg-cleaner the square-sign of ZoneAlarm in sytray starts going "mad" with activity, meaning red & green lines move up and down (dsl-connection)

Is it possible to verify in ZoneAlarm what application is generating that traffic?

Could you go to the Settings directory of jv16 PowerTools (by default: C:\Program Files\jv16 PowerTools 2006\Settings), open the Network.dat file and copy paste its content here?

It is surely JV.

No other application is active that moment. I have NO automatic-updates with ANY tool activated, not even windows-update. ( I don`t like stuff to be shifted behind my back uncontrolled)

As soon as reg-cleaner has finished the up/download-activity stops right then.

My Network.dat file (still with "Don't use the central server to improve performance"):

RegManager=True

Backuptool=False

StartupManager=False

Shown=1

ALTHOUGH the use of central-server is switched off in options there is also traffic while using software-manager and registry-finder. :|

as I don't have it in mine, and as I can't find a setting do activate this.

Right mates! Not that you think I don`t cooperate..........

I will now do a clean install of JV 16 2006 version 344.

Before that I will uninstall JV 16 via SOFTWARE, reboot and clean the leftovers out with RegSupreme and RegSupremePro.

I will attach a new Network.dat-file thereafter and give note if it still wants to jump internet although NET is switched off in options.............OK?
