Can JV16 affect my broadband internet connection ?

I just downloaded the trial version of the product and I did a registry clean.

I didn't notice at the time because I didn't use my connection, but after using JV16 I noticed that the speed of my ADSL connection dropped dramaticly. It's now barely doing ± 360 Down / 500 Up kbps (IP provider boasts 3000D / 800U; but it never came in quite that way).

Could this drop in speed be attributed to something the program changed in the registtry ? I would like to restore the modified entries but it seems that JV16 didn't do the backup (even though I specified a name for it), I might have missed something in the process.

UPDATE:

I did a search for "Backup" on my computer and found the JV16 backup directory. The folder has a file named Entries.reg so I guess JV16 made a backup after all, but it doesn't show up in the "backup tool"!!

It's a registry tool so it might very well modify your internet registry settings, but it would be odd.

If using the backup tools doesn't work, I think you can reset your settings to the system defaults with a registry file (.REG) from http://www.speedguide.net

I would give you a direct link, but it's been a while since I looked for it.

Also, I *think* there is an official Windows' .reg file to reset these settings as well...

Go to that "entries.reg", then right click it and click "merge". A message will appear "Are you sure ..." . Click "Yes". So the backup-file will be restored manually, i.e. the content will be added to the registry.

Restart your PC and normally your settings will be restored from before the registry cleaning.

You can also send the entries.reg to files@macecraft.com for me to investigate. I personally don't think such problem could occur but of course, it is in theory possible.

Did you use the normal or the aggressive scan mode?

I used the normal mode.

As for restoring the hole backup, I wouldn't want to do that because I accepted a system update (Microsoft auto-update) some time after doing the registry cleanup. Could this adversely affect the system changes or software changes that occured after the backup ?
