The last two builds of jv16 have worked for me without error. The most recent one I was using was 344. I had cleaned and compacted my registry numerous times with no errors or software problems whatsoever. During my most recent maintenance process, I decided to check for an update. Build 349 had been released. I immediately upgraded to build 349 and ran the registry cleaner. Absolutely amazed, it found some 1,383 invalid registry entries. Although odd, having developed a trust of the program over the time that I had been using previous builds, I decided to trust the jv16 and move forward with cleaning them. I also created a backup, as I always do. But little did I know, the nightmare had begun.
I rebooted my system to a blue screen concerning an invalid dll. I rebooted again with the same error. I rebooted into safe mode with the same error. The system would not come back online. I used my BartPE CD to reboot the system, and ran jv16 from within this enviornment to restore the backup. jv16 ran, restored the backup, stated it was successuful, gave me the done screen with the OK button, and then a second later advised me that it experienced an error writing to the registry. My system was trashed. Again I attempted rebooting, with the same blue screen error. Again, the same error when attempting safe mode also. I then attempted running an option "R" repair from my OS cd. Even after doing a repair on my OS, my system still would not reboot. Finally, I had to boot back into my BartPE cd and backup all of my important data. Once this was done, I had to reinstall my OS. What a nightmare.
I don't know what happened with build 349, but I am not running it anymore. I have reinstalled build 344 on my system, and it is working fine. What happened to build 349?
