jv16 PowerTools 2007 will contain a much requested new tool: a disk defragger. It won't be just any defrag utility but one that is designed to outperform the one in Windows by both performance and quality.

The new version no longer contains the History Manager and the Cookie Manager, development of these features is no longer continued. The MRU/History Cleaner on the other hand will be highly improved.

These changes reflect the results of our User Questionnaires.

The new version will most likely be a free update for the owners of jv16 PowerTools 2006.

A detailed list of the new features and other improvements will be published later on. jv16 PowerTools 2007 will be released in Q4/2006.

Main objective in the development of jv16 PT 2007 will be fixing bugs and improving the way current features work. At the moment only one new tool is planned to be added, the disk defragger.

And as I said earlier, the disk defragger won't be any cheap Windows-defrag copy but much faster and much better. It should be as good (or better) as most of those really expensive third-party disk defraggers which alone cost $20-$80.

We'll have to wait and see, the feature isn't yet ready to be compared to other products.

Do you know Ashampoo Magical Defrag? Maybe you could add the option to start your new tool in the startup and work like Ashampoo Magical Defrag.

If you do so, we will never have to worry about defragmentation because your new tool will do it automatically and when the computer is not being used.

A JV-disk-defragger!

I am using Raxcos Perfect Disk 7.0 at the moment. It does a better job than the XP-integrated version.

jv16, let's see how your disk defragmenter will compare with the new version of PerfectDisk. I'm looking forward to comparing them and creating a full review with statistical logs and screenshots to backup my findings.

The development has already started, I don't yet know when the first beta versions will be available.

Your first preview of the "Disk-Defragger" looks allready good - a neat GUI without "whistle and bells" but informative and innovative.
