Guys, I've been running a test partition with Vista beta 2 (b.5384) since the public release and it's getting increasingly sluggish - feels like it needs a reg clean. If I run jv16 (latest version) reg cleaner in 'normal' mode, it records 1103 errors (800+ as 'high'). I plucked up my courage, did a system restore and took backups and, sure enough, the cleaning seemed to cause problems (Defender, drivers, couple of others - which might have had other causes, dunno - wasn't game enough to persevere). Immediately restored - and now of course, have my 1103 errors back and running sluggish! Most of you know much more about registry matters than I, so your advice please. Am I being paranoid? The large majority of errors refer to entries/files/folders as 'obselete' or 'missing' (should be safe to delete?) but I don't yet understand the Vista registry (not even sure I understand XP!) so am reluctant. Am I being paranoid? Should I trust jv16 with Vista as much as I do with XP? Alternatively, under Cleaner options, I have all the boxes ticked other than 'active X etc' (i.e. 'normal'). Should I untick any to do a 'safer' clean?
