To save our server, the Check for update queries are cached. In other words, if you had earlier today (before the release of the new version) used the Check for updates it won't show information about the new version until tomorrow.
If you wish to verify that the feature works correcty do the following:
Go to Settings > Maintenance and click "Flush cache" and restart the PT. Then try the Check for updates again.
