jv16PT 2006 just sits on desktop

Downloaded jv16PT 2006, ran it & nothing happens. Main screen is on Desktop, but is non-functional.

Clicking the shortcut has no effect. :

Could you give some more details? What SO are you using? Do you use some antivirus or firewall? NOD32 gives a lot of problems with PowerTools.

Running WinXP, Aluria Security Center (Anti Spyware), Trend Micro PC-cillin (Ainti Spyware, Anti Virus & Firewall) and Webroot Spy Sweeper.

Computer: Pentium D (2.80GHz, 800 MHz FSB), 2GB RAM (DDR2 SDRAM @ 533MHz)

Note: Disabled all Antivitus & Firewall programs....still had same problem. However, did not un-install & re-install jv16PT.

WOW! That's some helluva protection. So it's unprobable a nasty virus or spyware is at work in your computer... Try to re-install PowerTools, uninstalling it first, and before running it, add it to the exclusion list of your security programs... maybe one of them is blocking the program, look for "jv16PT.exe" in the blacklist of the programs (if they have one )

Apart from that, I can't think of anything preventing you of running the program.

This may help others:

Rebooted in Safe Mode, jv16PT still not functioning.

Deleated and reinstalled jv16PT....had no problems. Worked as expected.

Rebooted; all other anti-this & anti-that programs still running (they start when Windows starts). Then, tried to use jv16PT.....WOW....same problem, jv16PT not fuctioning.

I reconfigured all my anti-whatever software so that none would automatically start (except for my firewall).

Uninstalled jv16PT, rebooted and reinstalled jv16PT.

NOW, finally, jv16PT works.

Found out that "real time" anti-whatever is not required....can do anti-???, manually.
