Good morning,

my problem relates to the registry cleaner. I've been using it for many times but now I found out that it actually does not clean my registry - if I do understand it correctly. What happenes? I start the process, find 171 high issue faults and clear them via the repair function. Than I did the same again and found the same faults. Why do the appear again - I did clear them a few minutes before?

Thanks for your help

Hello Aaron,

Sometimes the 'Fix' button trys to fix the problem, and it didn't didn't fixed it afterall..

I Usualy first 'Fix' and then rescan en click 'Remove'.

Thisway it will try to fix the errors it can fix. And then i just remove the left overs.

Most of the time the 'Fix' feature does this also, but not always.

Also, check that you have the right permissions to access the registry.

For example, if you only have user permissions, and no Administrator, then you arn't abel to remove all the registry errors.

If this is the case, try to Run PowerTools as Administror.

You can do this by right-clicking on the PowerTools icon, and then select 'Run as..'

Hope this will help you :).

Hi BlackDex,

many thanks for your support. Unfortunately it does not work. I did the cleaning as you described (first repair than new scan with complete deletion). The next scan did show the old faults. And I have full admin. rights to change the registry. Next time I deactivated Kaspersky Internet Security to exclude any interference from this side. This did not help either. Than I deinstalled jv16 completely and installed it again - no change.

So, I'm at the end of my latin - and I wonder whether JV16 worked properly in the past, since I never did the crosscheck as I did it now for the first time!

Hi Aaron,

In the Reg Cleaner Advanced options tab, is the box next to "Don't show items that would be automatically re-created" unchecked? If so, check it and see if it makes a difference.

If it makes no difference, try this -- maybe we can make some progress in figuring what is happening:

1. On the Reg Cleaner list, check just one of the lines that keep reappearing.

2. Right click on that line and select "Open in RegEdit" (did it open at the selected key/entry name/value -- if no, what did happen?).

3. Copy and paste into a new txt file these four items from the top of the Reg Cleaner window: Key, Entry's name, Value, Error Description -- then save it.

4. Click the Reg Cleaner Remove button.

5. Select the regedit window from the task bar and press the F5 key.

6. If regedit is still at the selected key/entry name/value, then Reg Cleaner did not remove it.

7. If the key/entry name/value (or part of it) is gone, close Reg Cleaner and close PT 2006, but leave the regedit window open for a while -- it should be positioned just above, just below, or at the same key depending on the type of item.

8. Now and then, select the regedit window from the task bar and press the F5 key. Does the item reappear in regedit?

Post what you observed and include the four lines you saved previously in step 3.

Good morning tullik,

thank you for your support. Before I start doing what you have suggested in your post, I would like to share something which may be the key to the problem. I just realized that without exception all fault entries are related to Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0. So my assumption is, these entries are protected by the software. Do you think this is possible?

Here are two examples:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\KasperskyLab\AVP6\profiles\Behavior_Blocking\profiles\pdm\settings\AppsMonitoring_List\0029\TrustedImageList\0007\ImagePath : C:\Programme\Copernic Desktop Search\CopernicDesktopSearchSystem910.dll

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\KasperskyLab\AVP6\profiles\Behavior_Blocking\profiles\pdm\settings\TrustedImageList\0122\ImagePath : C:\Programme\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0\UpdateInfo.ppl

Sorry, we encountered an error while displaying this content. If you're a user, please try again later. If you're an administrator, take a look in your Flarum log files for more information.

Good afternoon,

I'm back on stage now!

The answer to your first three questions is "Yes".

I have permission for all entries.

So, finally I think I shall take your proposal No. 10 and put Kaspersky Lab in the Ignore List. My experience with Kaspersky's support was not promissing so far - so I don't expect help from their side.

Now I must finish to see the first World Championship Game Germany - Costa Rica

Goodby
