I have sent the debug logs created after running Software Uninstaller in private build 7.

On my system the software list is created now within 2 minutes (120 sec). That's somewhat longer than before, but one has to deduct 54 sec for the debug code, so normally it will take 66 sec on my system.

No other problems found for Software Uninstaller.

Here are my debug files from this version. Win7 x64. Progress bar runs to the end but then jv16 just sits there doing nothing. The Software Uninstaller does not complete. After aborting the uninstaller I can exit jv16 but still must use Task Manger to actually kill the process.

No need thanks, only from users with who the Software Uninstaller doesn't generate the software list at all.

While it may not look like it, I have made huge progress in location the problem. I have also fixed another problem from the Software Uninstaller's startup code, now I believe only one more issue remains and when it is fixed, the Software Uninstaller will work for you. I believe the same bug could also affect other tools and other users, so that is why I want to use this much time in finding and fixing the issue.

Here are the P8 debug files. Everything continues the same; SU does not complete and jv16pt needs to be killed with TM.

Here are my debug files from version 8 of the beta. Win7 x64. Same behavior as in my previous post for version 7.

Just ran the private 8 beta and it did not uninstall the program. I can go look on the hard drive where the program is and still see that it is there.

Confirmed for W7-x64-SP1: The jv16PT2014 uninstaller does not remove the empty jv16PT2014_Private8 folder from the C:\Program Files (x86) directory.

I have tried two two different program when I did the uninstall and they were both left on the hard drive but it did remove the from the uninstalled list.

FYI: A new version of the product was published today, it includes all the fixes reported in the forum earlier. The ultimate reason for the Software Uninstaller not working with some users still remains a mystery, but for most users, it now works faster.

I am still hoping to find a fix for the issue, though.

Nothing has changed for me with this latest release and I think it is time to bid adieu to jv16pt once and for all.

While I can't state for certain, I have probably been using this product for more than 10 years and just can't believe what has happened in this latest release.

FWIW, Build 1351 is vatly improved on my XP SP3 machine insofar as speed of loading is concerned. The Software Uninstaller now loads in about 2 minutes vs the 5+ minutes in previous versions of 2014.

At 2 minutes to load the Software Uninstaller, I can live with that so I'm going with 2014 instread of reverting back to 2012. I still have the Tags issue, but I'll address that in my other thread.

P.S. One other point..

In previous versions of 2014, the progress bar of the Software Uninstaller was stuck at 3 bars the whole time. Ergo, I couldn't tell if the program was frozen or still working. The progress bar in 1351 now works so it gives a good indication that the program is indeed working and to be patient.

I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit, fully updated, with, up to now, JV16 PT 2012. About a year ago I downloaded and installed JV16 PT 2013 (I think) but found it would not work on my system. After identifying around 700 or so registry errors it would not clean them up.

So you can imagine my relief when JV16 PT 2014 Private Build 6 worked as smoothly as any version of Power Tools ever has on my system. Thank you for your efforts in that regard.

My question, however, is this: if PT2013 found 700 registry errors, why did the 2014 version only find 120? Permit me to be clear: I remain thankful for the success of the 2014 version. I would, nonetheless, like to know if the cleaning process is not as deep as the 2013 version.

Are you referring to JV16 PT 2014 Private Build 6 'Registry Cleaner' or 'Clean and Fix My Computer' (=CFMC)?

It is my experience that 'Registry cleaner' jv16PT2014 found more issues than jv16PT2013.

But I can not compare anymore to jv16PT2012!

I referred to JV16 PT 2014 Private Build 6's 'Registry Cleaner' function, not the 'Clean and Fix my Computer' one. In my experience the CFMC function does not identify as many 'errors' as the 'Registry Cleaner'.
