Thank you for letting me know. I fixed a bug from the Software Uninstaller that caused it to miss some installed software and I wanted to see how much of a difference does it make.

In Clean and Fix My Computer, this pop-up warning is often not appropriate. For example, it occurs when I remove a lot of "Temp Files."

--Windows SW uninstaller finds 105 software items,

--A known free SW uninstaller product finds 105 items too.

4. You get a warning pop-up. When you say yes to continue, you get the backup dialogue.

5. When you say yes to that, you get an immediate access violation. Every time.

Confirmed fixes:

Startup Manager "Open in RegEdit" does not work for HKLM Run items. It works for HKLM Wow6432Node Run and HKCU Run items. Still happens in v.2.0.0.995. Fixed in v.2.0.0.996.

Action History: "Show backup" on a time stamp grouping line doesn't do anything. Fixed in v.2.0.0.996.

Action History: while it is loading its list, and also if the list is complete, when you minimize then restore the window with task bar clicks, the load process starts over from the beginning. It doesn't do that if the upper right corner buttons are used to do the minimize/restore. The bug also occurs wih other tools. Fixed in v.2.0.0.996.

Software Uninstaller lists Math Input Panel Accessory which is not a product, per se. Fixed in v.2.0.0.996.

Software Uninstaller Uninstall window can list 100s of registry items and files irrelevant for Software=Math Input Panel Accessory. Fixed in v.2.0.0.996 (by excluding the software item).

Backup Tool: double click column resizing often does not work if the first column (Description) is quite narrow. Fixed in v.2.0.0.996.

Software Uninstaller main list: double click column resizing does not work very well. Better in v.2.0.0.996? Closed, to be restated more specifically.

Action History: the action code "TempFileRemoval" is on C&FMC lines showing empty directories detected via the Start Menu Tool functionality. Fixed in v.2.0.0.996.

Save list as ... in the Uninstall Software Files window can save the registry data instead. Fixed in v.2.0.0.996.

New, or newly noticed:

Software Uninstaller & Backup Tool (and others): if a column starts out much too wide for the text, double click resizing narrows the column correctly for an instant, then it jumps back to the too wide width. Awaiting developer response.

Improvement: Added a "search in directory" grouping option to File Finder and Directory Finder.

This new feature works perfectly from the outset!

For example, with File Finder:

Search for = a*.exe;

Search in:
- C:\
  
  C:\Program Files
  
  C:\Program Files (x86)
  
  C:\Windows\system
  
  C:\Windows\System32
  
  C:\Windows\SysWOW64
Grouping = Do not group the results finds 257 files, with no duplication.

Grouping = Search in directory finds 257 files grouped as in the picture.

So there's a good chance adding the new feature to the File Cleaner might be pretty easy to implement ... ?

Doesn't the answer reside in the File Cleaner Messages:

: C:\Program Files (x86)\Temp\, C:\ProgramData\Temp\, C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\, C:\Windows\Temp\ analyzed. : C:\Program Files (x86)\Temp\, C:\ProgramData\Temp\, C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\, C:\Windows\Temp\ analyzed. (2) : C:\ analyzed. : The File Cleaner is now finished. The found files are listed in the File Cleaner window.

Warning: Always verify the found files before removing them!

Hello all: First post on this forum.

Just installed Beta 4 and received 2 error messages. One several seconds after starting JV16PT and the second 20-30 seconds after shutting down JV16PT.

These error messages don't seem to impact the use of the program but are obviously caused by something not meshing right.

I don't know??

I have attached 2 screenshots in order of appearance. When starting program and when shutting down the program. I have PT's installed on both my XPSP3 Fully updated machines.

I hope I have done this correctly. Please advise if I'm missing something. :|

Version 2.0.0.996 with x64 Windows 7

My Software Uninstaller results list contains 33 line items.

All 33 are more or less represented in the Programs and Features control panel.

26 are exact or very close matches.

5 show a probably incorrect "Software" or "Main Executable."

2 are outright bugs (Main Executable duplicated on another line).

These significant items in the Programs and Features control panel are missing altogether in the Software Uninstaller results list:

Adobe Reader

Google Earth

Java 6 Update 23

Java 6 Update 23 (64-bit)

OpenOffice.org

It seems a preliminary PT2011 design goal might be to skip over Microsoft items, probably until later. There are no Microsoft software items in the list.

This is now fixed, thank you for reporting. Have you had the chance to verify whether th tag system issues still exist in Beta4c?

This is how to make a Debug log:

To create a Debug Log of specific problem, please follow these simple steps:

1. Start PowerTools, at this time a clean ‘Debuglog.html’ is created on your desktop.

2. Perform any action in jv16PT-beta4c you wish to be saved to the Debug log.

3. Close PowerTools. The Debug log file “jv16PT_debuglog.html", containig the needed Debug information, is now saved to your desktop.

How to create a Bug report?

When running in Debug Mode and jv16 Power Tools encounters a bug that cases jv16PT to crash, a ‘Crash Report Window’ is displayed.

If you wish you can take a screen shot of the ‘Crash Report Window’ and close jv16PT.

After closing jv16PT a ‘Bugreport.txt’ file is created in the installation directory of jv16PT.

With a compaction tool (e.g Winzip) create a .zip file containing “jv16PT_debuglog.html" + “Bugreport.txt” and attach it to this forum thread.

How about just using the drive letter as the group caption for files that are chosen as clean candidates by the File Cleaner scan but which are not in a specified directory.

For example, per ...\Cache\SearchDirs.dat, my File Cleaner Groups would be:

2. In the same session of jv16PT-beta4c re-start the 'Startup Manager'. The result is an empty display window.

PS: the same happens with the SW uninstaller, the 2nd start displays an empty window.

Stopping/restarting of jv16PT-beta4c is needed to reset the system.

In Startup Manager, Tag Editor places unwanted tags on lines not selected. Still happens in v.2.0.0.996. Work underway to fix.

Startup Manager: an "Old" tag is placed on all 22 lines of a list. However, "TagSystem.dat" only has 17 line tags after the operation. Still happens in v.2.0.0.996. Work underway to fix.

Those three issues still exist with the Startup Manager. I suspect the first two may be related ... perhaps even all three?

I used it in the Software Uninstaller to compare the list to the control panel Programs and Features, and flag lines with errors. It worked fine.

I noticed the program now inserts four predefined tags in the tag editor. What is "UUSITAGI!"?

Just closing the list does not solve the issue on my XP system. Stopping/Re-starting jv16PT-beta4c is needed to reset.
