I bought JV16 2008 in July and today when I opened it I was notified of the new version and that it was a free update for me. I proceeded to download as directed and to install. Unfortunately it doesn't seem able to either see or accept my license and sends me to a web page to buy the full product all over again. I don't know if at this point I should just uninstall 2009 and just stay with the 2008 version until the bugs in this new version are worked out. I would appreciate any help you can give me with this licensing problem.

Worse problem yet, I got no email notice, the program I now have - jv16 Powertools 2008 #472 - doesn’t notify me of any update/upgrade availability at all. I received an email asking if I wanted to translate my language (English??) and that is how I found out about 2009 being released.

Visited the site and tried to upgrade, but when I get to the checkout page the listed price is double - $13.90 instead of $6.95. I posted about this in the 2008 forum - nothing. Submitted a support ticket - nothing. I used the Live Chat support - worse than nothing. Guy tells me to go to the Buy Now page and I can upgrade - that's where the double price shows for me. He didn't seem to "get it". Then he told me to try a different browser. I had already cleared my caches in all - I tried it in Firefox 3.0.5, IE7, and Opera 9.6x. Same double price in all. The problem is apparently on their server, not in my browser.

This may be the worst upgrade model I have ever seen for a software developer. I have purchased jv16 Powertools since it first went commercial but I may have reached the end.

I purchased the new license today, I've installed PT version 1.9.0.526, and I also have the license problem.

It keeps on saying this error message. :(

: The following license file was found: "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\license.xbin", however, it is not a valid license file for jv16 PowerTools. Error message: Invalid or corrupted license file. If you have purchased a license, please contact Macecraft Software (http://www.macecraft.com) for a new license file.

The old version do not let you know of the new version right away, there is a delay of about one day. This is because we don't want a huge spike of downloads and orders to our server.

Had the same problem. Online tech support give the following instructions, which worked -- if you have v1.9.0.520 installed. Uninstall it. Download and install v1.9.0.526. It should now work. Make certain the downloaded license file (license.xbin) in copied to folder C:\Program files\jv16 Power Tools 2009 -- if you used the default folder during installation.

Updated version 1.9.0.528 released. This version contains one more fix to the licensing scheme, so if your version still doesn't accept your license, please update.

It has come to my attention that sometimes the license file gets corrupted while downloading it from our server, this updated version of the product now attempts to automatically detect and fix such corruption.

Finally Version 528 works, my license is accepted, but I still see Buy now button in menu... :(

No, doesn’t work - no other services are checked at all. $13.90 is exactly double the upgrade price of $6.90. Your server apparently has me purchasing two instead of one, though it doesn’t say that anywhere on the form. I tried in all browsers, with cache and cookies deleted. The problem is server-side. Nothing more I can do to fix it here.

I had the same licensing problem with v526 however it seemed to have cleard up in v528. This is in XP SP3.

And you are selecting the correct PowerTools upgrade option from the online store's Product Selection?

Select product --> jv16 PowerTools 2009 (Upgrade from PT 2005/2006/2007/2008) ($6.95)

Uncheck the "License Storing service" ($5).

Click "No thank you" next to the "Premium Technical Support subscription" ($6.95).

Click Continue -- the next page should show $6.95 (it did for me, with Firefox).

I uninstalled the previous version of JV16 2009 and installed the new version. I'm still having the same problem. Tried paying the the upgrade fee of $6.95 but it insists on charging me $13.90 - double the fee. I fear that the only way to fix the problem is to get a direct email from the on-line store with some link to pay the right fee and an automatic download of the right license. After all they have all my information from when I bought the software six months ago and they have my email address.
