Overview of translation issues in PT2009 RC1b

Registry Cleaner > Scan Report > Summary of Results (fixed according to the developer)

None of the four Parameters in the English language is translated: i.e.

- Errors found

- Erroneous registry keys

- Erroneous registry entries

- Registry scan speed

I guess they are not in the English language file or at least there's an error in the program code.

In the title bar (header) of Registry Information, sometimes appears "Debug data: 5350/3496" instead of the real title (fixed according to the developer)

and if that title is present it's not translated (remains in the English language).

File Tool > Mass File Renamer > Counter > One step (fixed according to the developer)

The text "One Step" cannot be translated (see attachment including X_English test). There's no

X_ preceding the text.

Besides I found the error because I noticed my Dutch translation didn't match the original English text.

File Recovery: title (caption) NOT TRANSLATED (fixed according to the developer)

Unfortunately I found another translation problem.

In File Recovery the title (caption) is not translated and cannot be translated because the X_ is missing.

Backup Tool > Custom restore

The following texts are NOT translated and they can't be translated: the X_ is missing when running X_English:

- Registry entries

- Files

- Header file

A small one...

Main menu > Shortcuts > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter

When clicking on it, nothing happens.

The shortcut to Windows' Disk Defragmenter does NOT work in my Vista SP1 OS.

This bug is now fixed, thank you for reporting!

This problem is now fixed (I removed the filter tool altogether, it was causing more problems than solving anything).

Too bad. The filter tool was very handy when analyzing large lists.

For example, one could avoid doing multiple rescans with different sets of ignore words.

And the new "Move down in list" feature made it easy to see the last line.

I suppose there were more severe problems I haven't even experienced.

Added note: the list filter is back in RC2. Even when the last line is hidden, it can be made visible using various list manipulation features. So welcome back!

This is by design, the idea of the indicators is to give the user an overview of the system. To do this, the Registry Cleaner must be run using the "standard" settings, running it in custom mode would give different results (because of smaller number of errors found) and thus confuse users. ...

It could hardly be more confusing than what it currently does using the "standard" settings. Namely:

It seems the "Registry health" here uses the severity number as a weighting factor in calculating the value displayed via the mouse (e.g., 100/100, 63/100, 98/100, 1/100, and so on).

The "Registry Health" from the "Quick system analysis" was 98/100 during the worst case above. It has no correlation with the "Registry health" calculated in the Registry Cleaner (1/100). I think this is not really a bug, but it does cause confusion using the same terms for two different things. ...

I DO agree.

As to me the filter tool shouldn't be removed at all.

I never had big problems using it (except the visibility problem now, which after all is not a big problem).

So I am asking the developer emphatically NOT TO REMOVE THE FILTER TOOL. We will take the tool as it comes with advantages and disadvantages.

That's correct!

I also had noticed that issue.

It's due to an error in the English language file, where both "Read only attribute" and "System file attribute" have the same number.

...

3_3F5 = System file attribute

...

3_3F5 = Read only attribute

Anyway that error should be fixed.

Registry Cleaner, Search words tab

This feature is not working. It found nothing.

The "word" used was Inno Setup.

When not using the Search words tab, several errors containing that string show on the results list.

Registry Cleaner - Remove lines from list bug

In the structured list, when you remove some entries from the list, then do a select all and delete, the program also removes the registry entries for the items no longer on the list.

Yes.

And most of the "does not exist" type errors are overweighted. All those I see as described below have zero risk. I realize it's not desirable to add code for all kinds of exceptions. But "Desktop" and "userassist" are very common in windows.

Registry Cleaner - score examples, and an opinion

* 98/100 with 4 errors (count@severity: 4@1) -- slider at top

* 35/100 with 12 errors (count@severity: 4@1, 2@2, 6@99) -- slider down one from top

* 68/100 with 8 errors (count@severity: 4@1, 2@2, 2@99) -- slider down one from top

* 97/100 with 6 errors (count@severity: 4@1, 2@2, 0@99) -- slider down one from top

* 65/100 with 14 errors (count@severity: 10@1, 2@2, 2@99) -- slider at bottom

An opinion regarding certain "does not exist" errors:

* An entry referencing an item that was on the desktop is likely for an item deleted by the user. A high severity is theoretically possible, I suppose.

* If the entry for such a desktop item is a UserAssist entry, its severity approaches nil.

* If the entry is under a "…\billp studios\..." key, it's probably just history.

I think assigning the highest severity to such entries skews the "score" too much.

Hello Jouni and the community,

May be this is in relationship with other allready reported problems in the language file ...

As soon as the following strings are translated (French in this case) the Language doesn't show any more under Language menu:

RegistryInfoForm 2_595

TutorialForm 2_2BD , 2_2BC , 2_2B9 , 2_2BF , 2_2B8 , 2_22E , 2_221

OneClickCleanerForm 2_41A , 3_491

I tried to translate with IniTranslator and Notepad++ - this doesn't make any difference.

Well, jepe, I have translated the whole English.lng file in Dutch.

Though I have reported other translation issues, I can't confirm the one you report here (dissapearance of "Language" in the Main Menu).

After a translation with Ini Translator my translation file became corrupt (couldn't start Registry Cleaner anymore) and I had to restart from scratch (using Notepad).

What I mean is that sometimes (unfortunately) it's necessary to create a whole new file with the original English.lng file to fix the issue :

I mean you take the English.lng file, make a copy of it and replace the English text by another language text. That's what I've done (long and tedious job)...

I hope for you that wil not be necessary :
