I suppose there's nothing wrong with the translation itself, because it's exactly the same translation as in previous beta versions (Beta1 - Beta4) where I had no problems. It's also the same translation as in PT2008 where the issue wasn't present neither.

The problem started with RC1 en RC1b, i.e. when the new Scan Report was released.

I presume there's something wrong with the program code itself. The programmer will have to examine the problem. There's maybe an indication in the fact - as I wrote in my previous post - that next to "Selected setting" > "lblEngineSettingLegend" appeared instead of the normal text.

That's correct!

I also had noticed that issue.

It's due to an error in the English language file, where both "Read only attribute" and "System file attribute" have the same number.

Anyway that error should be fixed.

There are still other text strings with the same number. Is this by design?

What's the exact purpose/meaning of those Pie Charts in the Registry Cleaner Scan Report?

More particulary: "Found Errors" and "Distribution by Root".

All parts of those Pie Charts are equal (see attachments). Is this by design?

If this is by design, then what's the benefit/usefulness of those Pie Charts?

Maybe, my eyes aren't good anymore or I'm missing something...

Anyway the following sentence in the previous handbooks must be removed:

"jv16 PowerTools 2008 is not bloated with candy graphics, sound effects or any other bells and whistles." :

2) I have tried with other translations from PT2008, e.g. French > no results!

It's not possible to launch Registry Cleaner: clicking Start, nothing happens!

Conclusion: there must be an error in the program related to running any translation and causing the Registry Cleaner not to launch.

In System Cleaner, Detect Temp Directories is not honoring Filecache.dat and SuperSoftwareIgnoreList.dat restrictions on disks.

The disk selector setting for System Cleaner>Temp files for the disk selector is not staying selected between uses. It is always all unchecked.

I copied several languages from PT2008 and did several tests switching languages while looking at the Registry Cleaner "Engine settings" tab.

There were a couple of appearance problems at the Selected setting: spot in the window. Those problems also occurred when the language was PT2009's X_English. They also occurred exactly the same way in PT2008 with the six languages I tested.

The tool could be started with the X_English translation. It could not be started with any of the PT2008 languages (English included), but that is not really a surprise.

However, there was no sign at all of the symptom you mention in 3) above.

That raises the possibility that your download may be corrupt. Have you tried a fresh download and install?

There are two distinct bugs with the tab's window.

The first makes the bold Selected setting: string, when translated, overlap the text after the colon. Cause? There is insufficient allowance for a translated string longer than the length of Selected setting:. This bug is in PT2009, and also shows in PT2008 when the translated string is quite long. If you close and restart the tool, the overlap goes away. Apparently adjustments get made when the window is regenerated "from scratch" that don't occur when the window is refreshed in situ.

The second is likely due to an incorrect sequencing of program code. When you change the language from the main window, the entire tab shows the translation of the newly selected language, except for the text after the colon. It shows the prior language until you move the slider. This bug is in PT2008 and almost certainly in PT2009, even though there are not yet PT2009 translations available to demonstrate it 100%. It does occur in PT2009 using language files from PT2008.

In addition, the Saved preferences ... string does not get translated right away. In some translations, it stays in English even after you close and restart the tool -- but that's a translator issue …

Not my download is corrupt, but my translation file, I'm afraid. :

I made a copy of the original English.lng file from RC1b and renamed it Dutch.lng. I translated alle the stuff concerning Registry Cleaner. I started PT RC1b, choosed the Dutch translation and launched Registry Cleaner without any problems :

So I'll have to make a new translation from scratch :

I suspect Ini Translator being the culprit: I had already some doubts about it in the past. Not bad a program at all for translating, but I think it's able to make a translation file corrupt.

Now I'm gonna start (re)translating the whole thing. Long and tedious job and I must be fast because it should be ready for RC2 :

Well it wasn't a complete loss. There are the two real bugs I reported in the post before your last one.

I believe you reported something similar a couple of years ago, but were either ignored or not understood. The report may have been for a tool other than Registry Cleaner.

Maybe these two real bugs will be fixed before the release ... :|

On the other hand, once you close and restart PT, the problems go away until the next time you switch languages. Except for beta testers and translators, I doubt that many users switch languages once they have set the one they prefer.

Registry cleaner is still having an issue with entries like this:

888-006097deacf9}\Count\HRZR_EHACNGU:\Hfref\Genpl\Qbphzragf\Zl Cnaqb Cnpxntrf\Nyy Synzvat Crne Cyhtvaf\Xrltra Sbe Syrkvsl. : N/A

I have tried using fix and delete but neither removes these errors. They reappear each time i run the registry cleaner.

The only way I can get the Scan Report to display Registry Health and Registry speed is to uncheck "Enable custom selection of scans" in Advanced engine settings.

In Engine Settings if I move the slider down to the bottom, the Registry Heath drops from 92 to 1. The 92 which appears on the other 3 settings of the slider bar is inconsistent with the 100/100 Registry Health on the main window of PT 2009.

I am using jvPT 2009 RC 1 and I am having two problems

1. I am using Software Uninstaller / Custom Uninstall Software part of the program.

I have a program that does not have an uninstaller still on the drive.

It will let me save a list of the items I want to remove. But, I get an error "The following information must be provided in order to start.

* Selection of at least one item from the list

The problem is I have all of the registry item selected and it will not let me remove any of the items. I can also select only one and it still will not let me remove it.

Has any one seen this?

"Open in Regedit" context menu option still don't work. Windows regedit.exe is opened, but not at the desired registry entry (it stays at My PC registry root).

Registry Cleaner - fails to remove and backup certain UserAssist (HRZR) items

Here's more on the referenced issue:

* Not all HRZR items have the issue

* It seems only items with certain data (01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00) fail

. Added note: I modified the data of one item and it still did not delete. The failure must be triggered by something else ...

* The failure occurs with both results list formats

* The items can be deleted with RegEdit (one at a time if you can find them :) )

* Export as .reg file... and Save as program backup file... features create backup, but it is not correct

The three commented (;) items in the code below are the incorrect backup created by the PT context menu features. The other three correct items were extracted from a RegEdit export.

It doesn't fail for me.

I don't know if it applies to your situation, but the following is from the PT2008 handbook.

Similarly, the Open in RegEdit feature will not work if the product doesn't have full user rights to

the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Regedit

I have now experienced the problem you describe with some (but only some) of the lines with the "Useless registry entry" error description.
