Maybe it means you get the SH Indicator only when in Quick Select Normal or Aggressive and in Structured List Mode? (because that's the only time I get it now.)

Yes. The words should be changed to something like:

"(Only available with both Structured list and a Quick select option)"

downloaded and installed beta5, and yes, to a new directory. Chose to put icon on desktop--that worked. Nothing else does. When I click on icon, the program appears on Task Bar. When I click it, it disappears. I then tried running it from the subdirectory it installed in--same result. What's up?

I believe it sometimes acts strange like that because it can't find a valid license. Sometimes, you get a message to that effect.

It could also mean you never had a license, and had previously installed some version of PT more than 30 days ago. Based on other posts I've read, it seems the PT code to provide a new license period for beta testers does not always work right …

No status indicator=no abort feature ...

If you choose to hide the status indicator, you can't use the abort feature.

For applicable tools, why not add Abort to the File menu?

Two items to note:

1) There's no icon for the defrag tool in the main window. Is this by design or will one be there in the final version?

2) When I go to Shortcuts -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter, it launches the default Windows defrag tool, which didn't seem right.

I'm testing on a Windows XP Pro SP2 system with the latest set of patches.

RC1 worked fine but RC3 not starting - rather, starts, icon appears in task bar for about 2 seconds then closes down. OS is Vista Ultimate. Have tried several installation variations; installed as administrator (and not as), also compatability, run as administrator (and not as administrator). Same result with all installation/start settings. Any thoughts?

Thanks JRd1st, that was it. I copied my licence file into the jv16 RC3 dir and it worked fine.

Hi,

with rc2 and now rc3 experiencing 'not responding errors, if i reopen the program it does run, however the not responding is troublesome, and seems to be a new problem

Column Widths in Result windows

Why is it the the widths of the columns don't get saved in the result windows? It would be really convenient if, for example, the desired widths could be saved in the Registry Cleaner Raw List Result window.

I can swear that, way back in an old release of jv16PT, the widths were saved . . .

namely taking snapshots never completes: the progression bar shows fills up and then mysteriously the program hangs forever ; the bug had disappeared in RC2 and is back in RC3!

I have done the test with Register Monitor (Kaspersky Internet Security disabled).

Here are the results with successively following options:

1) "Only the following roots":

1.1) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER > OK (snapshot file = 18,3 MB)

1.2) Preceding roots + HKEY_USERS > OK (snapshot file = 23,2 MB)

1.3) Preceding roots + HKEY_CLASSES > OK (snapshot file = 35,8 MB)

1.4) Preceding roots + HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG > OK (snapshot file = 35,9 MB)

2) "Full snapshot" (is same as 1.4 above) > OK (snapshot file = 35,9 MB)

Conclusion: no problem with creating snapshots for me.

Note: when the progression bar finishes, one has to be patient and wait a while for the snapshot file being created. For 1.4 en 2 above (full snapshot) that takes even 70 seconds (thus from finishing progression bar until real completion (= popup and showing snapshot files window).

Registry Cleaner, Scan Report steals focus … (Vista)

The Scan Report window steals focus from the main window! … and/or vice versa ...

Added notes:

1. The problem only occurs if the Scan Report window overlaps part of the main window message box -- drag them apart, and it stops happening …

2. If it overlaps parts of both the main window and the message box, it doesn't happen.

Proof:

make sure the windows overlap as described in 1. above …

without closing the Scan Report window, click on Show in the main window, then try to select an item in the dropdown list …

then click back and forth on the title bars of both windows …

Happens "every time"
