I had followed exactly the same procedure, but with large jpg-files and without copying them in a new folder and all worked as it should :

Wonder what's wrong on my end then, since it's been happening from beta3 up!

Edit:

Tried it again using several different files, the last file in the list was split, but it had an excess of 30 additional part files of 0bytes. The rest of the list was not processed after that.

I've done fresh installs to new folders for each new beta, but is there any chance there's a leftover file or registry entry from a previous beta conflicting with beta5?

What do you mean exactly by that?

How do you add the files exactly to the File Tool? Drag and drop, or "File" > "Add files..."?

Are they all really shown (listed) in the File Tool window, before you click "Select > All"?

Yes, File Tool -> File > Add files... -> Shift or Control click all files, click Open -> Select -> All.

They're all there in the list, and can be modified perfectly fine by themselves, it's only when I have "Select -> All" that I run into problems with the Split tool.

What are your "Split settings", "Name Policy" and "Destination dir"?

What do you see in the "Simulation" tab?

Notice that Splitting is not new in these beta's and was already there in previous versions of jv16 PT. Have you tried the same in jv16 PT2006? With what results?

Now, what happens if you try the "Split setting" > Equally sized blocks and enter the number "2" in this beta5?

I've tried several different split settings, but for the time being I've been leaving it at the default 1.44MB. I haven't touched the naming policy or destination directories, and the simulation tab is always empty.

: Equally sized blocks, set to 2 worked. I set it to delete the original files after, but only the last file of the 5 selected was deleted. Progress, but there's something not quite right yet either :)

I don't actually have 2006, I was going to purchase it, but this was before jv had announced if 2006 could be upgraded to 2007 or not.

I'm also having problems with the defrag. I tried last night and after hours of waiting, the progress bar didn't move and I canceled after noticing that it wasn't using my cpu. I then tried the "analyze" function and the progress bar started moving and then stopped at about 10%. I ended up canceling that one also after waiting all night for it to complete. It gave a warning that the antivirus would slow it down, but it just stopped doing anything.

Also, when it was analyzing, it had the same dialog as the defrag, and said "defragmenting" instead of "analyzing".

I tried to use File Cleaner to get rid of wasteful *.log files. Couldn't figure out how to do it. Seems to me that File Cleaner only cleans up prescribed filetypes, and doesn't let you customize. Am I missing something? Also, after I ran file cleaner to see what programs have not been accessed in 50 days, I had trouble aborting and closing JV. I had to do an end program now thing.

Just delete the "Standard" file extensions and type in the one you want and save your configuration with the "Saved preferences" feature under your personal description.

This program is still not performing on my machine. It does the anilyize,then when u start the defrag it does about 3-5% then shuts down . the CPU usage is about 65-85% during the defrag period, then returns to normal when it quits .So its not hanging at all.

Registry cleaner - takes few runs to remember "reference" settings. if you manually save the settings it is remembered immediately.

When running regcleaner in automation mode, you keep getting thew automatic and reference warning until you manually save settings.

I just installed on another pc, and like similar installation, would not run automatically after installation, even though checkbox was checked.

Edit: turns out it didn't install 1st time at all. Installed again and it came right up.

Analyze and defrag also do not work on my HP notebook, WXP-SP2, 3.0 GHz P4, 1.2 GB RAM.

Analyze appears to run but after it finishes the report is blank and the views claim that the drive needs to be analyzed.

The tools dialog states that "All tests passed. You should be able to fully use the program on your system."

I reported the same by email about Beta 4.

What am I missing?
