Now everything in Reg Cleaner working just fine(in test3 version-1.5.2.333! It stops when threads count goes down to 1.

Thank you very much! I really like this program I'm using since it was freeware.

Some parts of the PT 2006 use a new performance optimized registry crawler component. These parts are: Registry Cleaner, Registry Info and Registry Monitor. Other tools don't yet use it.

I'm rather sure this is the root cause of the problem, the new registry crawler component has bug that on some rare cases makes it stuck on some infinite loop. ...

I installed the latest test version 1.5.2.333 and both Registry Cleaner (aggressive scan) & Registry Information run successfully.

Now major tools I've checked seem to work fine-Reg Cleaner, Reg Info, Reg Compact - I didn't check other tools yet(version 1.5.2.333).

Registry Compactor compressed registry just by 0.61% while Registry

Defragmentation from http://www.elcor.net or NTREGOPT from http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ does at least by 1% and they both requires mandatory reboot.

I've made some research regarding registry cleaners and found some interesting info I would like to share it with you, guys.

1. I've found one so-called free EasyCleaner from http://www.toniarts.com, which is actually not free - you have to subscribe membership for his site for $19.99 and then download this program. I've found different way to download this program for free from other site. After installation I've run this program and found that JV16 RegCleaner is really far better than EasyCleaner by speed and amount of invalid or obsolete entries in the registry.

2. Some interesting discussion regarding best registry cleaner at http://www.donationcoder.com/Forums/bb/index.php?PHPSESSID=771eb979137a4709d4b01a065dbdf0b1&topic=2964?ref=nl

3. Comparison chart of commercial Reg Cleaners from http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/Reg1Aid/rfa-comparison.html where JV16 Power Tools wasn't even mentioned.

I'm using JV16 tools for many years and consider it as essential tools for any Windows user.

As far as I know, every single registry defrag/compression/compact product works exactly the same way - they use a total of 2 (yes, two) API calls which do the actual work, everything else in these programs are just graphics, candy and hype.

Just downloaded & installed the latest version of PT 2006.

Help > About shows the version as 1.5.2.331.

Notice the: "The new version's version number is 1.5.1.335. After downloading and installing the new version, please open the Help > About window to verify you are running the latest version. Some browsers tend to cache the installation file and therefore you might not receive the latest version but the same old version you have previously downloaded."

This is a very common problem with many new browsers, such as Firefox.

I have a 2.8 Pentium d - 2 gigs of ram and 2 large hard drives. A full registry scan takes just a minute or so. Version here is 1.52.331

I just wish i could spot the keys that kill Perfectdisc 7.0. Once i figure that out it I will be fine.
